Happy New Year dear Hivers, and especially collectors.
Maybe the first of January is a day like any other day, just a change of number in the calendar full of days, weeks, months; each of these 365 days we should live in joy and find reasons for fun and play. For me, that is exactly what these announcement posts for a new topic at the beginning of each month are. They give me a lot of fun, I feel like a child who collects her/his treasures and finds joy in the process. In this way, I invite you too to feel inspired to be playful and maybe find among the items in your home a collection.
How do the ideas come? It depends. Sometimes other Hivers inspire me, other times I see something that catches my attention and then it becomes a monthly theme in the form of a collection. That is how this item also came to be the main protagonist of January 2025 in the Hive Collectors Community - socks!

In the run-up to Christmas, many shops and supermarkets display merchandise that can attract customers. Clothing, especially with Christmas motifs, is popular and it is no wonder that I came across so many socks with winter and Christmas motifs. I resisted the temptation, I did not buy any of these socks that you see in this collage, although in the window of one shop, I saw something that was super suitable for me... Can you guess which pair of socks it would be?
Maybe I regret now that I didn't enter and buy myself those with the piano keys but it would be just for fun as I have enough pairs of socks. More than I will show you today. I just skipped the boring white heel shield sports socks I wear during spring and summer. When it comes to colder weather I like to have ankle or mid-crew socks.
But wait, better we open my closet and see what we can find it the drawers!
Inside the lowest drawer sleep those socks that are showing themselves for this collection! There are flamingoes, deer, stripes, flowers...
...flamingoes?
Well, I don't usually wear socks full of prints... I prefer the mono-coloured ones but this mini collection of three flamingo socks has a story behind it. In October I went to Madrid to run some errands. It was a rainy day and I went with some sneakers that are not waterproof... My right foot got wet and I got cold and I don't like that feeling very much.
I was fine for a while but then I felt even colder, the sock on my right foot was also completely wet and I didn't have a chance to dry it. The solution was to look for a dry/new pair of socks. I found a store where I could buy them, hurray! The only problem was that they all had patterns and came in packs of three pairs. I needed only one 😂 but I had to buy the three pairs. It is like they knew these socks would be part of a collection. They did me a favour! 😁
Did I mention I don't like prints? Well, I did, but check this out: I am wearing some cosy Christmas-themed socks. I bought them in a pack of two pairs, one is dark blue and the other has deer (reindeer?) and snowflake prints, which I actually like now a lot. 😍 They are super comfy!
I also have tights. The black opaque ones are really warm and great to wear in winter, then a white with patterns and other black ones with little blue flowers.

The white ones are my favourite from this section, and I like to wear them with short wool dresses and boots.
Speaking about flowers, these white knee-highs are full of them. The morning that entered through the curtains gave additional floral patterns. :)
I hope you like this month's theme. It is a very easy topic as we all have these garments to wear on our feet and legs... although, thinking about it better... maybe it is not as easy as it seems to have a collection, as our washing machines often eat up some of the socks. 😂
For the end of this post, I was saving the funniest pair of socks (or slippers, I don't know what to call them). They are handmade, knitted and are very sexy, aren't they? 😂
But I don't mind, they are extra warm and perfect for these cold winter days.
Feel free to bring your funny, crazy, printed or any kind of socks, in the way you want to present them - wearing them, mixing up the pairs or whatever creative idea comes to your mind. I will be waiting to see your collection of socks during the whole month of January!
I see a great collection of socks and many, beyond design and colour, evoke a pleasant warmth transmitted to feet, in this case yours.
I'm not a fan of socks and I can't wait for winter to be over... but I have to admit that right now there are many inspiring designs, with imaginative patterns and colours. My favourite from your collection are the white crochet ones, even though I don't think they are socks.

I know you are not a fan of socks, I remember you saying you like just sandals - wearing them in warmer places, such as the seashore. Well, winter is not your best friend then hahaha, I imagine that you indeed wait for the warmer months to come! The white crochet ones are tights (I also hope it is the right word in English)

I don't wear sandals just to the beach, I wear them all summer long. I have problems with my wife when I have to go to visit, to the theater or the opera...

It may seem banal, but stockings are garments that accompany us every day as part of our lives. They can reflect the art and human design, helping to prevent and protect the skin of the legs and feet. Areas that open like doors where the low environmental temperature penetrates that can disharmonize our integrity. That's where our beloved stockings protect us.
They also make enhance the beautiful legs of a female wandering with her heels in the city, evoking glances and sighs.

I don't think I'm going to take a picture of socks on my feet for this post, I don't know how acceptable it is for the community to have unwaxed legs in the shot?
I think my collection of socks will be interesting enough, and if it's not enough, I'll peek in my wife's drawer.

There are some interesting designs there. I like the "Little Red Riding Hood" ones. Those are clever. The piano keys would have been good for you. Maybe next time. I tend to get a few pairs of fun socks like this each year as a gift. I have quite a few at this point. Anyway,

You have a nice collection, when I was still a student, I always had that black and white sock no design or whatsoever. It looks more neat to me if I wore those colors, hehe. When I graduated from college thats also when I decided to stop using socks, hehe. I don't wear shoes now that is why. But, Mom has a lot of socks though, some are really old already. She has long and short socks, and the quality is really good, its thick. I should share them here 🤔🤔🤔

No, not anymore 😆. With my long feet, I got conscious whenever I wore a shoes. I feel like my size is not fit to my height, lol. I can't help but to overthink about it so I just stop wearing it and I prefer flat sandals now. Hehe.

This time... well... hahaha it's complicated to participate, since I don't have crazy or varied socks and if I tell you that I almost never use them... I die of heat always hahaha but don't worry I'll always be present in some way... long live the rocks!

Oh me alegra que las medias sean motivo de un post. Ahora mismo tengo que lavar un montón de medias, mías, de mi esposo y de mi hijo ufff un trabajo agotador, también he visto que necesitamos comprar nuevas medias porque mi pequeño se está haciendo grande. Perdón el español es que voy apurada al lavadero a lavar y tender mis medias. Menudo trabajo para empezar el año. Felicidades amiga, lindas algunas de esas medias. Me encantaron las blancas con las zapatillas tejidas.
