My QSL cards collection | keeping promises

in Hive Collectors11 months ago

Good day dear mates! Idea to write this post born couple month ago when I was participating in Hive Humpday Hangout #HHH weekly show hosted by @ph1102 on discord @ecency server. If I'm not wrong it was 6th or 7th episode where guests could to introduce their communities. And one of guests was @mipiano She told us about community which she created. It was Hive Collectors community. At that moment while chatting in discord I wrote that I want to write post about my QSL cards collections.

So promises must be kept. And now I think I'm ready to show you my QSL cards collection. Or maybe at least it's part ;-) Let's start!
First of all I think it'll be good to tell you how I come to start collecting QSL cards. And what is QSL cards by itself?
If to talk briefly QSL cards are used to confirm two-way radio contact between two radioamateurs or let's say radio amateur stations. So this QSL cards can be written by radio amateurs or also by radioamateur who has so-called observer call sign and recorded a connection between two radio amateurs. Of course now it's available not only physical paper QSL cards but also electronic eQSL. More details about QSL cards you can find here
If to talk about me my radio amateur adventure began in the beginning of 2000th when I was studding. At that time I met guy who told me about radio amateuring and taught me Morse code, electronics and other things, but it's a little bit different story and maybe I'll tell you it in another one post. Now let's move to my QSL collection.
There you can find different QSL cards from different countries and continents. From some radio amateurs I received cards even several times. On photo bellow you can see QSL cards from Japan, Czech Republic, Slovenia Sweden, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands and other countries.

Some QSL cards are double-sided, with a front side and a reverse side with more detailed information. And some are one-sided and carry all the important information about QSO on one side like that green on in the left down corner or in the second row. Bellow you can see reverse side of QSL card from Croatia.

Now other cards from Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Belgium. Also in first three rows on the right side QSL cards from Vladivostok city which is located almost in 10000 km from my home city.

Or look at cards from Turkey, Japan, Kazakhstan, Austria, Seberia, Shetland Island, Poland, Srbija. Or this QSL cardfrom operator with callsign KH2E from Guam Island.

Some QSL cards and call signals can be dedicated to the special events or memorable dates, or even issued for special radio amateur expeditions for far corners of our planet. Look at QSL from Hawaii and Honolulu

Here you can see cards dedicated to sport events like Olimpic games or football championships.

And finally some QSL cards from expeditions and nature preserves.

And to finish my post I'd like with QSL cards dedicated to the date of birth E.T. Krenkel who had call signal RAEM and it was first radio amateur in USSR.

Here I could show you dear mates just a small part of my collection from different years because there are a lot of cards. I think even maybe nearly thousand.
Of course some QSL cards in my collection are old, some are memorable for me and very important as a memory about past days. But anyway as and before I'll continue to collect QSL cards. And who knows maybe once I'll publish new post update about my QSL cards collection! That's all for now. Stay tuned! Yours @travoved

Hello colleague I am the mother of @nanixxx in fact I am a Radio Amateur in Cuba. And it is a unique opportunity that Colmena gives me to meet you. I could never get to have that incredible amount of QSL cards because I don't have equipment that would allow me to get that far. But our work in the country is important. My callsign is CL3AMC. Congratulations for such a nice collection. Thanks for sharing.😀

Nice to meet you! And I think it's a rare occasion that your son saw my post and we have the same hobby. My callsign RZ3DBN And who knows maybe once if I'll be traveling closer to Cuba we can make a QSO ;-). Do you have club station in your location? Also can you say how popular radio amateuring among young people in Cuba? is it hard to get callsign and open your station in Cuba?

Thank you for writing to me. Radiaficion in Cuba is declining at least in the region where I live we have no repeater and my equipment is not powerful and I have no way to communicate because I have no batteries and do not exist in Cuba. I have HYT model TM-610V. And Kenwood model TK-270 Post w 5. All a disaster, the cell phones have come to attack the Radio Amateurs. But I would like to have it among my colleagues and communicate. I studied in the USSR at the University of Kiev and married in Moscow. I love Russia. So if you come to Cuba we will meet. My husband studied in Oriol. My greetings and nice weekend.😀

You promised and indeed, some amazing QSL cards came to the community! Wow, this IS a very interesting and nice collection, I have to repeat that I didn't know what these cards were. But we learn every day, and it is another beauty of Hive! 👏

Thank you for this contribution!

Yes I agree that we are learning every day. And I glad that could bring something new or maybe bright to your community!

You for sure brought a very interesting collection to the community, something that is outstanding! So, thank you once again! 😇

Krenkel's card looks like a highlight of this collection to me! but ofc the rest is very nice and enjoyable stuff too.
!BEER

Krenkel beyond the competition anyway!!! By the way in December 2023 was another anniversary since his birth!

I'm so glad to hear that you heard about the HiveCollectors community through the #HHHLive show! That's already enough satisfaction for me! 😄

I have never been in the radio amateurs world, but when I was discovering electronics, I heard about it and I was fascinated by it and how people could communicate with people from different parts of the world... Reading your post where you had contact with a fellow radio amateur from 10000km away is amazing!

Thanks for sharing your QSL card collection! I didn't even know that something like that existed!

So maybe once in one of next episodes I can tell more detail about my hobby ;-)
Distances are not an obstacle for passionate people, by the way I should mention that nearly couple years ago even Bitcoin could be transfered via radio from one radio amateur to another.

Oh, interesting and nice collection you have. My mother and father are radio amateurs here in Cuba. I'm not very familiar with their performance in this field because I don't live with them and the truth is that I've only done a little research about their equipment and sometimes I see them at work. I know it is very nice and I have even shared with many hams in triathlon competitions. They support those events.
My mum is here at Hive so I'll give her a call to read your post. I'm sure she'd love to meet you.
@mamani, check it out. He collects SQL cards.

;)

Ohh it's always nice to meet people who have the same hobby as you! Unfortunately I didn't have QSO with Cube radio amateurs before. But maybe once it'll happen! Crossed fingers!!! It's great that your parents participating in this competitions. Sometimes I have possibility to participate in some competitions or so called field days.

Hi. It's interesting to see your collection of QSL cards used by radio amateurs. It is a hobby that few know about, but personally it attracts me. Through it, they establish interactions with people from all over the world, and that is beautiful.
There is a film called “Sergio & Sergei” that was shown in Cuba, and it is about the friendship and help that a Cuban radio amateur gives to the Russian Sergei. A Soviet cosmonaut stranded in the Cosmos. An American also enters the story.
Personally, I like radio equipment that includes shortwave and sideband. I have several telegraph keys for Morse communication as a collection.
Thanks for sharing unusual collections. Greetings

Yuhh didn't hear about this movie. But now I'm really want to watch it! Thank you for suggestion. Communication via space objects or with ISS is really interesting and may be considered as a special separated part of radio amateuring!
It will be great to look on your telegraph keys. Of course I have couple in my equipment, but last time I use them not so often as before.

You have a Lot of cards there! And there are several themes too!

Yeahh It’s even scary to start counting how many of them I’ve collected during the time since I'm in love with my hobby.

Yay! 🤗
