Welcome language lovers!
This community might be a bit different than you are accustomed to. This community accessible through all interfaces that enable access to the Hive DPoS blockchain (e.g. https://hive.blog, https://peakd.com and the esteem apps [probably soon being renamed]) doesn't have the many issues Facebook has as it is fully decentralized. That does mean though that some things work slightly differently.
First, you need an account here but there is no central account creation mechanism. You can request help with creation of an account at the Silly Linguistics Discord or help yourself with one of the options from https://signup.hive.io
Also, take into account that because there is no company behind this, you will need to be extra careful about your password. Don't lose it. Also with your password comes a series of keys. It is recommended that you use the Posting key instead of your password and an easy way to do that is to use a key manager like HiveSigner or Hive Keychain (still waiting Chrome Webstore approval, but there is a post about how you can make it work from the development version).
Then when you post here, you will see that our interactions on the network help our reputation and influence grow, and we can actually get some of the cryptocurrency the Hive network works with. Many people get confused about how this works, about that my recommendation is to see it as a secondary thing and not worry about it at first. If you try to game the system, you create a worse time for everyone, so please try to educate yourself over time and not be greedy.
