Celebrating Maha Shivaratri Festival at Budhanath Temple
Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Shakti. We celebrated this festival Maha Shivaratri every year in the moth of February or march. This year we are celebration it on the 1st day of march. According to Hindu calendar, the festival comes on the month of falguna this year. Once the festival over the summer season will arrive or start here. Today we are celebrating this festival. According to the Hindu mythology tells how Lord remarried to Mata Pravati. On this day lord Mahadev (Loed Shiva) and his love Parvati got married. On the behalf of Lord Shiva and Shakti marriage day, we celebrated festival Maha Shivratri every year. We can say that, it is the marriage anniversary of legend Shiva and Shakti.
Today, we wake up early before sun rise. In India before sunrise time is called the Brahma Muhurta. After waking up, we do the bath and wear the clean clothes. Then go to the nearest Lord Shiva Temple for doing the Sankalpa of full day for dedication and devotion towards lord Shiva. Then we do sankalpa for giving some rice and water in the lord shiva palm. We also offered some belapatra, coconut water, dhatura flower, fresh cow milk, honey, ghee, sugar doing shiva puja. Also we are chanting with “Om Namaha Shivay” several times in the day. After that we do fasting throughout entire day from sunrise to sunset. If required some devotee only eat the fruits or some lassi. We break our fast after end of the Shiva Chaturdashi Tithi for getting maximum benefit of Vrat. the Vrat only finished when the "Mahadeep" will go to the top of the temple. The timing of the go up the Mahadeep will be around 10 PM at night. After that we should break our fast.
