Before we start, I would to like apologize for the quality of the pictures. I promise the quality will be better in future posts as soon as I make enough to purchase a decent camera. I also would like to read if you guys have any recommendations for a cheap but good camera.
Hello, everyone. Today I went to the Iraq International Book Fair in Baghdad. The fair started on the 8th of December and will continue to the 18th.
To be honest, this was the first time I had ever gone to this annual fair. I had a brief visit to the one in Erbil, north of Iraq. But, I couldn't miss this one as it had one of my favorite Arabic artists, ِAyman Zedan, a Syrian legend.
This man had literally done it all. Actor, director, writer, he did all those three in television, cinema, and theatre. The man is a walking legend. Still, he greeted fans in a different country like they were an old friend.
A truly gracious man. If you'd look at his biography you'd find his fingerprints in most classic works that are still followed today. His work also varied in genres, His work ranged from slapstick comedy, smart comedy, drama, and he even starred in war epics like the Arabic T.V Show made after Hulagu Khan.
Here's the source for this Image. I do own the rest though.
The reason I went is that I own two of his books, he also writes books as if he wasn't accomplished enough.
Sadly, I couldn't take a picture with him as no one was willing to take it.
Even without the autographs, which I did get, the man was such a blast to be around. He constantly joked with fans and it felt like a comedy segment more than it waiting for an autograph.
After I got my autograph, I walked around the fair.
The book fair was a bit too crowded, so I couldn't take many useable pictures. However, the sight outside was also beautiful.
All the beautiful lights were adding a beautiful touch to the fair.
They even had a Christmas tree set up as a show of welcoming everyone.
A picture of the entrance to the fair
Here is a picture of a door they installed surrounded by nothing. I guess that's 'Art'
Just in case walking in a crowded place wasn't hard enough, they put a door.
They had assigned colors to each country section. Here is the Lebanese one.
This was my trip to the Iraq International Book Fair, and how I met a legend and a personal hero of mine. I can't stress enough my apology for the quality of the pictures, those were truly the best ones I had.
