UNITY IN DIVERSITY: The NIGERIAN Experience

THE truth is as one grows up in life he or she continues to acquire knowledge and becomes aware more and more of his environment, I have come to the point were i have realise the truth, I would say I stand among those who would critisis the government for failure to take care of the citizen by providing them with the least social amenities but no, all we see around us is a failed system filled with distrust, disloyalty, corrupts leaders who seat in power and continues to gather wealth for themselves not minding what the people feel.

This was the mindset of the former NIGERIAN society were distrust and corruption was the order of the day... were and hausa man can never trust the igbo man, because the igbos are generally known to be cunning with money and always seem to outsmart their customers, meanwhile the Yoruba man cannot marry a Hausa woman because inter-tribal marriage are forbidden, an average igbo man distrust the hausa man because he fills the hausa man is trying to rob him of his land and properties and so forth.

Along the line this became heightened and a civil war broke out in 1967 which lasted for four years,

Now I understand better why people criticise the government because they don't know the effort the government are making to ease the reality and to make life more meaningful, simply because they don't know!, they backlash tongue lash and go all way out to instigate anti government protest. As a National youth service corp members I can now stand in the gap to educate and promote national unity among all NIGERIANS.

Coming to this point, has changed the narratives, I have come to the full knowledge of the government efforts to revive and revitalise the country,
We have been duely educated on all fronts about the NYSC Core mission and aim among Nigerian youth, which is basically Reorientation, Reintegration and Resettlement of a war-torn country after the 1967 Civil war that lasted for almost four years, the goal seeks to rebuild a new nation were trust, togetherness, unity and team spirit is common among the people, the NYSC scheme which was inaugurated by the then president Gown birthed the idea of a new NIGERIA, through the youth.

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was established by the Nigerian government in May, 22nd, 1973 the scheme was conceived after the civil war of 1967 as a means to concertise the federal government agenda of reconcilliation rehabilitation and recontruction for national integration.

Today I see myself among NIGERIAN youth from all over the country the Hausa/Fulani man from Nasarawa, the Fine, cute lady I met from the Yoruba tribe who came from Osun, my friend Biodun from Illorin, the tallest guy in camp from Anambra, the most sweetest part of all these is how the white on white T-shirt, white short on white canvas and white socks mads us all look as one, no matter the background family status, religious background, tribe and tongue, we look alike and the same.

There is a lot I'm currently learning and just few weeks in camp has drastically changed my perspection about the government and all the efforts of which the NYSC is one of the strongest channel through which the government is pushing out its solutions to build a thriving Nation were peace, unity and Love is upheld.
