Hello everyone,
I have actually gone on excursion to this rock while I was still in my primary school ,and here are some of the information I was able to gather about the rock.
Olumo rock is located in Abeokuta,Ogun state. It's a place that stands out among other tourist attractions in Ogun State. The name of the rock "Olumo"is the combination of two words Olu"God" and Mo (Moulded),the combination of these words is "God has ended our troubles and sufferings"
From history,Olumo rock was discovered by a hunter by the name "Adagba" who used the rock as means of defense during the intertribal war in the 19th century.Actually the Egbas(people from Abeokuta) were part of the Oyo empire but the Egbas weren't happy with been a part of the Oyo empire and decided to also stand on their own and then this lead to a war between the Egbas and the people of Oyo. During this war,the Egbas hid their wives and children as well as their luggages under the rock .While the males stood on the rock and which enabled them have a clear view of their enemies advancement in a war they eventually triumphed.
The rock comprises of statues of the Egbas past heroes and different symbols of the Egbas like Lishabi Agbongbakala,Agaba the great hunter ,Okunkeny the first paramount ruler of Egbaland.

During rainy season ,it was noted that Olumo rock produced water that were used to cure diseases and sicknesses, but it has stopped producing water since about 50 years Ago. Another fascinating fact about the rock is the presence of a tree that is claimed to be over 200 years Old.This tree neither shed its leaf throughout the year as it flourished in dry and rainy season.
Olumo rock is easy to climb .It has been renovated and an elevator has been added for those who do not wish to climb the stairs between the rocks to get to summit ,it also has a museum ,and also a water fountain as side attractions. At the top of the rock is a beauty to behold, from it you would be able to see the view of Abeokuta from a very far distance.
