Memories From A Cousin's Marriage Ceremony

in Cross Culture3 years ago (edited)

I was going through my phone gallery since I couldn't come up with a post and I had read enough to get my inspiration going but nothing. Then I came across some pictures I took on my cousin's marriage day, I thought I should share them with you here.

I've once said in a post that I love weekends because of the wedding ceremonies, and that is because weddings mostly happen on weekends. My cousin's wedding also happened on a weekend and I can remember how busy we got until the D-day.

This was my siblings and I all set for the marriage and we made sure to get to the house early enough before it started. Yeah, the house because they were to pay her bride price before any other thing at her father's house. We got there right on time to witness how everything was being carried out even though some things weren't too clear to me.

It started with the most elderly man in the family saying a prayer then advising the groom about what he was about getting himself into. I remember the elder saying something like "We are not selling our daughter to you, if you hit her and she says she doesn't want to marry you again... We will take her back from you and return your money" 😂 I laughed really hard at that point.

Honestly, I don't know if he was serious when he said that but I don't see my cousin getting married to a woman beater so it was cool. After the payments were made, the father of the bride prayed for the couple and others came around to bless their union by spraying money and giving gifts. There were so many gifts, the house was filled that they had to start taking some of the gifts into the rooms for space.

The next activity that took place was taking of pictures. I made a huge mistake that day because I failed to snap with my cousins 😩 I totally forgot and just kept snapping them with excitement that my cousin was getting married.

I loved my cousin smiled here and I remembered making them smile more when I screamed "Happy married life" to them. They were looking so amazing that day, I couldn't stop smiling while taking the pictures.

Couples with bride's siblings

The couple also took some shots with the bride's siblings. Yeah, those are my other cousins... My uncle had six children and it was a wonderful thing to witness their first daughter getting married.

Looking back to those pictures, I'll say time flies really fast because it was just a month ago I heard that she delivered a beautiful baby girl who I'm yet yo see since I'm in school. The couples are happily married and here I am thinking back to their marriage day 🥰

By the way, all these happened on the 28th of November, 2020

Thanks for reading!!!
