First one, then two, then finally three. Three people bitten by leeches. I thought they lived in the water! Tree leeches!?! Wtf is that.
They put salt on them and they came right out, then they squeezed out some blood just to be safe
Oh @selfhelp4trolls I am a very visual person, I just can't get the leeches thingy out of my head, like it keeps playing over and again😥
This is the kind of story that makes me wonder if I am ready for the countryside!
Oh dear I don't think I will ever be ready for the countryside.
Well you don’t have to go out in a field or swim in the river…but I’m an adventure boy so I can’t justify not doing those things 😆 I think the ocean fits me because jellyfish don’t gross me out nearly as much!
If it's not leeches, it might be ticks. Or swarms of mosquitos the size of crane flies who descend on you by the millions. "The Alaskan Air Force."
If you grew up with it, it's not so much terrifying as it is an exercise in simply staying awake and alert. Being mindful. Actually see what's around you... aside from the pretty flowers and the view.
Nature gets used to humans. We live in a small city of about 10,000. We've occasionally had bobcats, cougars, coyotes and other wildlife trot through the garden. There have even been a couple of bears in the neighborhood.
I haven’t gotten used to these things yet so I am a bit overwhelmed. Not in any real debilitating sense but like after I see someone get bitten by leeches, I can’t stop myself for checking for them, even in the most ridiculous places, and I find myself watching tons of bear videos so I have some idea how to behave if I ever run into one.
I grew up with animals around but none dangerous and also in the suburbs everything is so sterile and controlled. Turkeys, female deers, squirrels, rabbits and the occasional raccoon aren’t all that threatening or disgusting. Worms were kind of gross but I ignored them.
We definelty never saw an outhouse and no one near us was farming.
What a good language explanation from the people. I hope they were friendly with your trip. Time will tell if I can sacrifice to learn other people's language.
It's hard, innit? Luckily, it's a lifetime thing, considering we know only a fraction of our own native language. Like most things, it gets easier with practice.

I'd take leeches over bears 1000% of the time.
Fair enough! Hahaha I think I’m with you on that, but I’m shooting for neither.
I'm shooting both.
😄 leeches reminded me of my childhood. We had quite a few and salt works against them. you'd be fine living in the woods.
Oh no! Have you been bitten?

Enjoy dear friend as most of us don't have the balls like you to be so daring😄
Hahahaha 🏀 ⚽️ I’ll do my best
Cheers!
Nature is "all of the above," pretty much.

It's all rather "Northern Exposure."
