Hello, My Friends!
Welcome back to emanate artworx. Today, I'd like to share a little portrait study I made in the earlier part of this year. Usually, I like to assign random names to my portraits, but for this one, nothing seemed to fit "quite rightly." So here she is, Miss Anon:

Testing out the coloring. It was an amazing moment 🥲
This portrait was made using the brush called pen (fade), which turned out pretty nicely. It's a simple brush, but also a solid choice that gives a soft-ish result (not too soft tho!) I really like the old photo vibes she's throwing. Like a vintage starlet look. Reference
Initially, I was having issues getting the colors done in a way that was satisfactory. After mentioning that in a group chat, the talented @solumviz shared a really great tip on how to color very quickly,
Create a grayscale value painting, then add a layer on top, set to blend mode "Overlay" at a low opacity, around 25%. Add your colors on the overlay layer. Voila
Digital art is so awesome in a lot of ways. Tips like this one make it easy to make adjustments and play with different colors, kind of like trying on different outfits. Having the right techniques makes it fun to create...the wrong techniques make for headaches and frustration!
As much fun as it is to learn how to make digital creations, it's hard to say if I prefer digital over traditional. Both have their place in the art world and in the real world. The sensations of using physical materials are a very satisfying part of making traditional art. Until humans are merged or integrated more fully with machines, I think both forms will remain alive. What do you think about the future of the visual arts?
On that note, stay tuned for the third beach scene of my 4-part acrylic painting series! Beach 3, coming soon. 👀
Miss Anon, what should her name be?? 🤔 Thanks for reading! See ya next time. 😎
Ema
She give such unsettling vibes! She really see right trough me!
Haha! That's not what I expected 😈. As they say, 'the eyes have it.' Awesome, thank you for your feedback!
I always choose uneasy feelings over standardised 'prettiness'. Art should keep you on your toes, gives something more than easy, plain joy. These eyes attract even though it feels like an interrogation :D
Really great work!
Hmmm 🤔. I appreciate your analysis of this portrait study and will definitely take it into consideration on future works. That must be the reason "dark" themes and symbols are so popular in illustration and painting.
I remember the post about that difficult instructor from your days at school. Since I don't have formal training, this kind of feedback is very helpful, and I really appreciate you taking time to leave it 😁.
Pleasure in all mine!
You don't need any formal training to do your art. If anything - it gives you greater creative freedom, without schoolyard artificial filters:)
You are doing great so far! Just keep going:)
Absolutely superb artwork. ❤😊 I love how vibrant this is!
Thank you for your comment! Glad you like this one : )
Great work!
Do you have a reference to it, or is it purely your imagination?
Thank you, Yhani! Yes, I used a reference from unsplash, although I did take some liberty in altering it slightly for my version : )
Damn, Ema! It's getting better and better every time. 😍
Why not both? 😌
TRUEE! But it has been years since I draw in trad. 😅
Well done, Ema!

Aww, thanks, Jiji! Slowly, but surely.
Hmmm, yeah I do really like both 😅. One day you'll give trad a go again. : )
It gives off heavy casa blanca theme and I love it so much! Were you going noir with this one? Cuz it looks like it's headed in that direction
OooOh, I didn't even catch that, so it was accidentally noir classy! Thank you, I'm so glad you like it. 😌 I'll work that technique into my future works 🤩🥳
I thought you were headed in that direction of art style 🤣 I'd love to see you drawing more again UwU it's been a while
Hmm, yes ::taking notes on art style feedback::
Yeah, I'm a little slow when it comes to making posts. I have a back log of art ready though! And I could say the same for you. 😆🤣 More Hanz, moar!
You are amazing, how nice to see you improving, cheers.
Thank you so much, Oscari. I appreciate you! 🧡
Nice one! I like both digital and traditional art techniques. Digital art forms are obviously much less restrictive. No material costs. You can just undo any mistakes etc. There's something about working with real stuff though you just wont get when sitting in front of the screen in my opinion.
Definitely! There are pros and cons to both, so there's no way to say one is superior to the other. Each one has a place in the world, even though technology is advancing so rapidly. Thanks for stopping by, surrealis!!

Nice work Ema🤩! I appreciate your kind words. I'm glad that trick was useful to you.
I can see that this one is more refined than the last one. It looks very clean! I can see you mastering painting portraits very soon hehe.
Hey, thanks! That's a big compliment 🥹. I couldn't have gotten this far without you and the rest of the artpark crew supporting me. 🌱
Always happy to help :)
