Today, while my wife and I were preparing old bowls to take to the city waste disposal site where they would be properly disposed of, a small sweet wasp landed on a pot and wouldn't leave. Even when I tried to shoo it away, it just circled around and came back, probably attracted by some scent on that pot.
I had to take advantage of the moment and, with the help of a macro camera, snap a few photos of this beautiful yet, for some people, dangerous little creature.
When I say dangerous, I mean that there are many people, including one of my friends, who are allergic to wasp, bee, or hornet stings. Two years ago, he barely survived a severe allergic reaction after being stung by a bee while mowing grass in a field. The bee stung him on the shoulder, but the swelling spread quickly, and he started to panic. According to his wife, he struggled to breathe more and more until they rushed to the emergency room, where he was immediately given an injection and kept overnight for observation. So, when I say dangerous, I mean for people like him who have severe reactions to their stings. Some people, however, believe that a bee sting is healthy and that it shouldn't be feared.
In the end, I managed to lure the poor wasp away by dipping a popsicle stick in some honey and placing it in front of her. She climbed onto the stick and started touching it with her antennae, and I was able to carry her outside so she could survive because she is a living being and has a right to life.
When I zoomed in on the photos, I saw how beautiful she was, with her lovely eyes and the patterns on her body—a truly stunning flying creature.
