How to create a Trust wallet thumb.jpg

Hey there!

Today I'd like to walk you through how to create a Trust Wallet.

The first reason you might want to consider a Trust Wallet is because it supports more than 100 blockchains, so if you have assets on different protocols, you can access them all with this one app; Quite convenient. The second reason is it's self-custodial meaning you hold your private keys, your seed phrase and thus control your crypto assets.

Self-custody is super safe because your keys are not vulnerable to an attack on a centralized server like Google or AWS. It also means you cannot call anybody to recover your keys or seedphrase if you ever lose them, so you need to be extra careful in keeping them safe.

I use good old pen and paper in a fire-proof safe. and as a back up, I use a cold USB stick that is (almost) never connected to the internet. Only when I use LEODEX and if I ever need to recover my keys.

And I'll even give you a third reason (which I will cover in more detail in another video):

You can use your Trust Wallet to vote on The Dapp List, a website that lists DeFi, NFT, Metaverse, Gaming projects and much more and lets the community vote for the best ones.

These are some of the blockchains currently supported on The Dapp List:

I hope you found my tutorial helpful. If there's any content you'd like me to cover, please let me know and I'll do my best to make it happen.

Very nice tutorial Alex 😍 This video will help users to create a wallet to connect to The Dapp List if they do not have a wallet from their given list 😉

Thank you for making this information available. I have met many people that are new to decentralized everything and the first thing they ask is how safe is it. How can they protect their investments, etc.

So many tutorials online are written to be lengthy for more ads or are videos that drag out, again for more ads.

Your commentary style is great, not too fast, you go into the details naturally. Considering how easily this can become overwhelming for new users your style is refreshing.

Thank you, thank you, for putting video of what you are doing onscreen as well. Too many forget that interfaces could be slightly different so simply explaining where buttons are or what to look for could be different depending on device being used.

You're welcome my friend! I think we should make as much educational content to help people that are new to web3 technology and might be afraid to ask or unsure about where to look for reliable information. Self-custody is a new concept that might be a bit difficult to grasp.

It is definitely something that is confusing to people just getting into Web3 and such. I know, I do a lot of discussing the benefits of Web3 on Meta platforms and on Discord and those that stick around and want to learn more get hung up on wallets and such. Simply telling them it is like their online bank is too simplified and somewhat a disservice to the protection a wallet such as Trust Wallet offers.

Most get lost at the decentralized part. Confusion sets in over who owns the platform and such. I tell them, no one owns it alone, it is a community ownership and those that want to invest simply purchase the crypto. Many run back to Facebook because there is a figure head they can blame when their experience is less than optimal, I guess. Lol.

I am excited because I have started seeing others discussing Hive and decentralized platforms in general "in the wild".

Making information like you are creating available is how we grow as a community and help those that are new and need a helping hand. Together we all achieve more.

Besides HiveKeychain (with only posting key), I'm still very cautious about installing wallet apps on my mobile phone... Call me boomer or grandpa, but I don't trust phones too much... lol...
But... I will eventually need to install at least one and fill it up with a small amount of crypto... to have some money to spend "on the road."

Thanks for sharing this short tutorial, which covers essential "side tips" about self-custody!!!

Hey Hey! thanks for your comment. I'm also very cautious about phone wallets, but I do have a few that I treat like regular wallets with cash. I have only enough to buy a meal in case I come across a coffee shop. There's also a few Bitcoin ATMs where I live, so in an emergency I could also take out some fiat by selling some BTC or ETH.

This is very helpful for those who do not have wallets before
It’s a good tutorial

Thanks my friend. If there is anything else you think people might need help with, let me know.

I have been using trust wallet for quite some time so I know how to create the account and how to use but it is a challenge for many new people. You have created this tutorial and it is very helpful and easy to understand so thanks to you for bringing it for the community.

Thanks, the idea is to create content for people who might not be familiar with the available options.

Is that the Trust Wallet that belongs to Binance?

Trust Wallet is endorsed, but not owned by Binance.

Believe that’s not correct. Just looked it up again, Alex:

https://trustwallet.com/de/blog/web3/what-is-trust-wallet

Binance acquired Trust wallet in 2018, but did you see the sentence that follows in the screen shot you sent me? It says "Trust wallet has since become an independent entity"

Here's a statement by Binance:

"Trust Wallet is now a separate legal entity that is not part of the Binance group and operates independently from Binance.com," a Binance spokesperson said in an email.

So they officially leave them their freedom but they are owned by Binance. Fair. 🤝🏻

Please, can we trade hive, HBD and other crypto assets on it?

Not yet, but maybe in the future.

I already had a trust wallet and I'm starting to wish I watched your video before man, you explained everything so well. Just in case any friend wants to create one I'll just share this video with them.

Thank you so so much this was so helpful🙂

You're very welcome!
