For those of you that may or may not know, i was in a bad car accident at 18 years old. I have bad limp and my leg doesn't fully work.
With 5 fused spinal vetebrea my movement is diminished and i need to be a bit careful with myself. I spent a lot of my life kinda running from this in various ways. The last 5 years or so, I've really got my shit together better. Focused on my fitness and built my body back up after years of neglect.
We brought the kids to Ski in the 6 week world schooling hub, that was about learning to ski, skiing with friends and cultural education.
It was called Articterns and was an amazing program that i would recommend to any parents with ski aged kids.
Well through the month the kids kept asking me if i would go skiing with them. I really wanted to, but it has been 25 years since i skied last. I knew i was in good shape, but that skiing was dynamic and would test muscles that I wouldn't typically use.
So i decided to
dedicate myself through the month to building my core even stronger and see if i wanted to be brave.
I joined a gym. it was awesome
highquality gym with a lot of variation of equipment and the best part it was nearly always empty! i worked a lot with the 15kg weight bag, doing lots of random and side lifting and crawling side drag reps. I was working on walking and switching wieght so that my balance would be tested. I felt very strong after 5 weeks of this, so made the decision to go skiing my last day.
there is no real fancy thing about this video, just me skiing and filming my daughter skiing. But for me, it was an amazing triumph to get back out there on the slopes and to see Amari and how much she had learned through the time at the ski hub. The perfect cap to a great 6 weeks.
the song in this video is called Brace Yourself, by my band Kaldera
ive got comment rewarder on this post.

Very cool, where were you skiing? Skiing is something I never learned how to do. Looks like you crashed once during the skiing, hopefully that was OK?
Haha, yes, I was trying to keep my daughter framed in the shot and I lost balance and fell, but yeah, I was fine. 😎
I wondered how you were about to ski and shoot a video as well. The video was stable too, so perhaps you used a sort of tripod, but this is so much fun and satisfying too.
That was actually me just on a smartphone holding it as I skied 🎿… I was surprised at how stable it came out, I think maybe it looks more stable because of all the white, so there is no frame of reference to see shaking camera 🤷♂️
Glad it looked good though. And actually in the middle of video you can see that I was trying to focus on keeping camera on my daughter and I should have focused on my skiing…as I crashed in vid… luckily it was not a bad crash 🤓
Perhaps, it was focusing the camera on your daughter that even made the video more stable, unfortunately this caused a crash. But, I think if you had tried putting the camera on yourself it would have been a lot shakier.
Yes, the whole snow and white made it seem like the video was stable, but it was still a very decent job holding on the camera.
A little fun crash is inevitable
Your daughter skis so well and you getting back out there after all this time is really cool. The song fits perfect too, very good song for the vibe
Yes, after 6 weeks she got really good at skiing!
She's GOATED ❤️💪
Huge congrats Butt!
Awesome to see you having a great time on the slopes and it's always awesome hearing Kaldera 🤘
💪🏼 thanks m8
Awesome Brian !
Congratulations for your motivation and dedication to your authentic double wish.
Once again you prove that everything is possible to a faithful and perseverant soul...
I have done a lot of skiing over the years. You both did so well. I taught my son to ski but he moved straight to snow boarding. I had a crack at snow boarding too but still prefer to ski. I find snowing way more painful when crashing! I would love to check out Bulgarian slopes one day.
Skiing is so much fun! Its to bad that I so rarely do it these days.
