You are my sweetest vice
You'll be my demise
The one that I'll try to avoid
But I always find my way back to you
I'm no stranger to your lingering warmth
When you catch me unarmed
I'm drenched in your bittersweet arms
'Cause you taste like wine on my tongue
Don't know if you're good for me
Yeah, I'm wasted the moment you're gone
Don't know if you're good for me
You're too good
You're too good for me
Those who have tried tasting wine, I mean the really good kind, would have probably said, in one way or another, "This is too good.", after that glorious first sip. 🍷
I don't consider myself a wine connoisseur so I don't really know a fine wine when I see or taste one, but I am fortunate enough to have liked most of the bottles that I have tried so far. I like drinking wine, but I know that too much of it (of anything, really) may not be a good idea and may actually be harmful to me. Yet, I still crave the smell, taste, and the entire vibe of wine-drinking.
I covered this song last night, first, because Taylor Swift has released Red (Taylor's Version) so I am definitely going crazy here. Red...wine...so...there's that obvious connection right there! Don't you see? Haha! Also because, I'd love to have myself a glass (or 10) of fine wine right now after Taylor Swift's insane 30-track drop, but I need to (try to) study properly for my exams for grad school so...I am trying to be responsible here. TRYING.
But, secondly and most importantly, I recorded a cover of this song because this has been one of my favorite tracks lately. People who know me IRL and on this platform very much know that I've always been a fan of really good songwriting and storytelling . Most people also know that I am a HUGE fan of Clara Benin. She is, I think, one of the best writers and storytellers of her generation. She has written a lot of songs that I think are lyrically brilliant, and Wine is one of those songs.
I've had a fairly recent heartbreak, one that I have not recovered from yet. And this song, Wine, is one of those songs that perfectly capture a significant part of that relationship that just ended, so forgive me for being a bit emotional in this track.
I would've did a cover of a Taylor Swift song from Red but, I am such a huge emotional mess still from that emotional trainwreck that is All Too Well (10 Minutes version). Recording this is (...was) a decent distraction from realizing that I still love him stuff yet again hehe. No SMS have been sent...no chat message has been delivered...so, yep, we're good, we're okay! ...for now.
But, if, for some reason..."I Almost Do" becomes "I MOST DEFINITELY DID"...Taylor Swift, I blame you!
ANYWAY!!!!
Please enjoy and please listen to a snippet of the original version by Clara Benin (which you can listen to at the end of this video). You won't regret it and you're welcome! :)
Btw, I used this really awesome instrumental from JAMS MUSIC.
