Hello friends, I hope you are well, in my series of Venezuelan characters painted on banknotes, on this occasion I have made a portrait of the painter and artist Carlos Cruz Diez, one of the greatest artists of Venezuela in the entire 20th century, his His work has been carried and performed in many countries, he was one of the greatest exponents of the kinetic art movement, one of the most emblematic movements of the entire 20th century. Carlos Cruz Diez was not only an artist, he was also a scientist, a student of color and the harmony of light, a faithful believer in the purity of color regardless of the container that contained it. Now it becomes part of the characters that I am making for my artistic series of Venezuelan banknotes, I hope you like it.

Hola amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, en mi serie de personajes venezolanos pintados en billetes, en esta oportunidad he realizado un retrato del pintor y artista Carlos Cruz Diez, uno de los más grandes artistas de Venezuela en todo el siglo XX, su obra ha sido llevada y representada en mucho países, fue uno de los más grandes exponentes del movimiento artístico cinético, uno de los movimientos más emblemáticos de todo el siglo XX. Carlos Cruz Diez no solo era un artista, también era un científico, estudioso del color y la armonía de la luz, fiel creyente de la pureza del color sin importar el recipiente que lo contuviera. Ahora pasa a formar parte de los personajes que estoy realizando para mi serie artística de billetes venezolanos, espero que les guste.

I made the sketch on an out-of-circulation bill and painted it using acrylic paint, but not before placing a base with white paint on which I painted the face. As a separate mention, I mention that Carloz Cruz Diez did a work in my city, this is known as the monument to the Rising Sun, it is a sculpture that symbolizes our city.

Hice el boceto en un billete fuera de circulación y lo pinté usando pintura acrílica, no sin antes colocar una base con pintura blanca sobre la cual pinté el rostro. Mención a parte, comento que Carlos Cruz Diez hice una obra en mi ciudad, esta es conocida como el monumento al Sol Naciente, es una escultura que simboliza a nuestra ciudad.

Then I started to paint the hair, the photo I used as a reference, Mr. Carlos Cruz Diez was already in his last years of life, he died in 2019 but left the world with wonderful works.

Luego comencé a pintar el cabello, la foto que utilicé de referencia, el señor Carlos Cruz Diez ya se encontraba en sus últimos años de vida, falleció en el año 2019 pero dejó el mundo con obras maravillosas.

The Venezuelan artist worked and lived in Paris, France, from 1960 until the day of his death, on July 27, 2019. For this career, spanning more than seven decades, he obtained great recognition at the national and international level. Kineticism is an artistic movement born in Paris in the middle of the last century, it is there where Mr. Carlos Cruz Diez had the opportunity to find the appropriate niche to study color in depth and find a way to give it shape without a support.

El artista venezolano trabajó y vivió en París, Francia, desde 1960 hasta el día de su muerte, el 27 de julio de 2019. Por esta trayectoria, de más de siete décadas, obtuvo grandes reconocimientos en el ámbito nacional e internacional. El cinetismo es una corriente artística nacida en París a mediados del siglo pasado, es ahí donde el señor Carlos Cruz Diez tuvo la oportunidad de encontrar el nicho apropiado para estudiar el color a profundidad y encontrar la manera de darle forma sin un soporte.

For me, his example has been great, and I have learned part of the path of the true artist, and that is that science should not be separated from passion. So, I have also tried to do my own research to improve and find my own language through which I can express what art allows me, and in that process build a legacy. This is what I have learned, and I am sure I will continue to learn even more.

Para mi su ejemplo ha sido grandioso, y he aprendido una parte del camino del verdadero artista, y es que no se debe separarla ciencia de la pasión. De manera que, he tratado también de hacer mis propias investigaciones para mejorar y encontrar un lenguaje propio por el cual poder expresar lo que el arte me permita, y en ese proceso construir un legado. Esto es lo que he aprendido, y estoy seguro que seguiré aprendiendo aún más.

Así ha quedado finalizado mi retrato homenaje al artista Carlos Cruz Diez, su obra fue muy prolífica, y estoy seguro que en algún lugar se habrán topado con sus obras, que tal les ha parecido?
