Another successful SpendHBD workshop in Nigeria

Few hours ago, I was able to successfully conduct another SpendHBD workshop to create more awareness for this project. Although the audience for this presentation was expectedly small given the lack of enough publicity for it. Over here, shops we have listed could not access the v4v platform and so we could not invite many people for the presentation given this uncertainty. But overall, it was still a successful presetation.

8 Persons attended

In attendance for this presentation was a total of 8 persons. The attendance included newbies as well as old members that have not heard about SpendHBD. The presentation started by 10.30 local time. I made use of the slide to introduce the project and explain what it is all about. Since more in the audience are already old members of Hive, I did not take much time explaining what Hive is all about.

The main work was done in explaining how to scan codes generated by the stores that we have onboarded. Everyone in attendance has the Keychain wallet and it was not difficult to scan the demo QR codes. I gave everyone in attendance the opportunity to scan the codes and attempt to pay for a transaction. Interestingly, it was not really difficult to do that. So after about 1 hour, 45 minutes of practice sessions, we moved to the closest shop to the workshop venue - grand options.

A little difficulty at the shops

We tried the first few transactions and they were successful. But later, the remaining transactions were not able to claim their discounts. I eventually discovered that the distriator account has run out of funds. We had to discontinue the shopping and return to the training venue while I tried reaching out to the spendHBD team. After sometime, a team member topped up the SpendHBD account.

Unfortunately, some of the shoppers have to leave for other businesses and promise to return later. But a few of us that waited later returned and completed our transactions. Over all, it was a successful outing and the new sign ups are eager to start shopping more frequently as well as the old members.

Suggestions

The @ distriator account should always be monitored to have sufficient funds for the claims. This way, shoppers will always be sure anytime they go shopping that there is enough funds for claiming discounts.
