Pause from Scrolling (meditation)

One of the most powerful forces of the human experience is present awareness. Presence to all that is happening around us, awareness of the existence of ourselves and those around us, and the ability to simultaneously experience and witness.

I'm no newbie to it - I get scrolling through social media and other things on the internet and pretty soon I'm saying: what am I doing and why do I keep scrolling? I often notice I actually feel worse as I'm scrolling through social media, and that the void I was filling actually becomes greater. It's like a quick sugar fix I grab for that brings a quick high, is gone oh so easily, and ignites greater dis-ease than I had in the first place. It's so easy to lay prey to comparison, judgment and jealousy. Too easy.

Making ourselves feel guilty each time we're in a loops of scrolling isn't the answer either, as guilt creates more resistance within ourselves - it creates "something else that we need to fix"... which can ultimately draw us away from the thing in the first place we actually wanted to change. ;) :D
What we can do instead, is interject our scrolling with awareness - we can actually use scrolling as a tool to see how different actions shift our state of being, and cultivate practice in shifting our state and increase our presence the moment we notice a particular state.

Allies are sure a lot more useful that enemies!
