On today's episode, I will talk about THE GENDERBREAD PERSON.
The Genderbread Person was created by ItsPronouncedMetrosexual.Com in order for people to understand how complicated gender truly is.
Gender can be divided into the following - identity, attraction, physical sex, and expression.
Let's start with gender-identity or what you feel inside. Example a person can feel that they are a woman or a man, or a mixture of the two that is to mean some level of woman-ness or man-ness.
Gender-identity does not usually match up to biological sex. The more common sexual characteristics that we are familiar with are Male or Female, however, there are some of us who are born with the female XX chromosomes but have male sex bodies or male XY chromosomes but have female sex bodies. This means that for some, their chromosomes do not usually match their physical bodies.
Regardless of how your Gender-Identity and biological sex, ones Gender Expression can be different. Gender Expression refers to how you express yourself in public. You have varying levels of being masculine or feminine. Gender-based pronouns "He or She" are usually based on these gender expressions. Using the appropriate pronoun should be respectful of gender expressions.
Finally, we have Attraction. Someone can be attracted to Men, Males or Masculinity or they can be attracted to Women, Females or Femininity. Some can be attracted to both genders, or be attracted to none.
In any situation, it is always important to listen to people on what kind of identities, expressions, sexes and attractions they identify for themselves and be respectful of those difference of people.
Not everyone is the same.
