The Threat Of Automation Is Passing

No longer are workers threatened by automation. We are now in the phase where automation is starting to replace workers in droves. This was accelerated by the COVID situation which allowed companies to replace people with technology and still have cover.

In this video I discuss how the same approach, like raising the minimum wage, is counter productive in this era.

To your point I haven’t used a printer in 2 years. Most of these Politicians are clueless to the changes that technology will bring. I always tell people to not look to the State for help. Rather look to family and community. Hopefully blockchain communities will pick up the dislocated workers. But it may be chaotic for sometime.

That is what happens as you can't blame these companies either. Having an automated work force that works 24/7 and never needs a holiday or a pension is massive. I would have replaced my staff on my assembly line years ago when I was involved if the option was available. Our volumes may not have been high enough but the head aches of a large work force are never ending.

I sometimes am quite happy to be living in a country that's quite far away from globalization. We're still years away from you guys. That doesn't mean that to some extent we're not affected by job losses due to tech. Just today I went to a adidas outlet and the guys over there said they're closing in May. They should thank the pandemic and online shopping. Many of us will regret obeying to all this crap once they'll realize what this great reset will change in their lives. Some will probably change their careers and get an online job, but how many of them...

There are plenty of jobs to still be had they just aren't your normal lazy on your butt ones which some automated drone can do. Stop being lazy people lol.

The reason we have tech is so you don't work you A off to make money. Instead you do it with brain power and smarts. That time you use to sit around doing your mindless job that you hated can instead to spent researching new ways to make money and automating it!

The minimum wage doesn't help since most of the money goes directly to the banks and large corporations. The smaller companies and declining industries are getting less of the money pool thus they these jobs are more likely to disappear. Also if the company can save on costs with automation, they will definitely do so.

I only hope the digital block chain and VR will produce jobs for the displaced. If they do not, I fully expect the government to implement some form of UBI because they do not disgruntled citizens to revolt. However I do not think the UBI they propose to be sustainable without creating jobs for people.

@taskmaster4450le well technology is really very useful and can help to assist us in our daily lives and businesses...I think the issue is that we still have alot of people who are not willing to adapt to the change that technology is bringing into our world ..automation is necessary in the society we live in,without automation we will have more problems than we already have in the world today....awesome insights from you sir ..
