Hello everyone👋 I hope all is well. I wanted to share with you what makes me busy the whole week. We facilitated a BPSO and BPATs Skills Training for 2 days each batch and we created 2 batches, so 4 days in total (a busy week it is😊).
We again facilitated training for our force multipliers. This aims to refresh their skills and knowledge input new ideas and share the latest trends. It's been months since their last training. We wanted them to keep updated and on track always. We've invited trainers from different departments such as BFP, PNP, DILG, MDRRMO and karate instructors.
We've made two batches on this training and ans each batch will have a 2-day training. We clustered the barangays so we could accommodate them properly. They will be having the same types of training and discussions.
1st Day
The first day of their training started with the registration. This is to account for all the attendees. Later, we let them settle in their seats and make them feel comfortable. As the program started, our host, the MLGOO, Ms Evalyn started to call out the barangays who were present today with their corresponding Barangay Officials. She also introduces the trainers and head of their offices.
So as we started the program, we had the prayer, followed by our National Anthem, the "Lupang Hinirang".
Each Department leader was given time to give their inspirational messages to the participants. They all have the same thoughts that our force multipliers are very helpful to them.
Later that morning, Ms. Quiros then discussed the roles and responsibilities of our barangay tanods. What are the benefits they are getting for being a barangay tanod. They serve their community even if they only get a small amount of honorarium (though it varies with each barangay).
She emphasizes that barangay tanods are very useful and helpful within the community. They make the community feel at ease and make some jobs easier.
In the afternoon session, my colleague discussed the methods of arrest. We have warrantless arrest wherein a police officer can arrest an accused even without a warrant especially when caught in the act (inflagrante de lecto). They can also arrest a person with a pending warrant of arrest, an order from the Court. A warrant will be served at the house of the suspect and recite to them the Miranda doctrine.
But the question is, can an ordinary citizen or the barangay tanod can arrest a person without a warrant and a police officer? The answer is YES. It is called Citizen's Arrest, it is when you have personal knowledge about the crime committed by the suspect. A barangay tanod can hold the suspect and call a police officer or turn over the arrested person to the nearest police station.
After the discussion, another police officer taught them the handcuffing techniques. Handcuffs are very useful to immobilize the arrested suspect. There were different techniques on how to handcuff a person.
Everybody was eager to try on how to do handcuffing. They do demonstrations on the different types of handcuffing techniques.
Next trainor was the MDRRM Personnel. They discussed The very common and usual events that could happen in the community. They taught the tanods the basic way how to carry patients or victims. If they could perform the proper way to carry a patient even if they were alone they could handle it smoothly. They also taught them ways to help others in need especially when a choking happened.
We should never panic and compose ourselves to help others. Choking was very common, especially to young children. It is better that we, in the community, are knowledgeable enough to do the first aid.
2nd Day
On the second day of the training, another Police Officer tackled the anti-criminality campaign made by the different agencies of our government. She discussed the do's and don't, especially when it comes to social media participation. Some factors cause criminal events through social media platforms. We have to be cautious and aware of what we post on our platforms.
The next speaker was a BFP Officer. He first discussed the elements that cause fire. He also discussed that we must familiarize our own houses, so it would be easy for us to evacuate in case of fire. He also gives tips on what to do before, during and after a fire incident.
After the discussion, he then show to the participants the very common way to stop the fire. He discussed the proper way to holde the fire extinguisher. This thing is very common, easy to access and can stop the fire in our very own hand. He show them how to prepare, how to spray and how to keep the extinguisher properly.
Right after the demonstration, he let the participants use the fire extinguisher. They were very excited and eager to learn and use the extinguisher. By this they will be able to help their community in times of fire.
The next trainor will be the karate trainors headed by Mr. Henry Lepon. The team started with a warm up exercise, this is to prepare thier bodies and minds. It is very important to have a stretching exercise so that their muscles will be ready for the upcoming activity.
They show them different techniques of karate ang right after let them do it and guide the participants while doing the techniques. It is very important and useful for them to know the techniques of self defense especially when they are the first responders in the barangay.
Lastly, they ended the activity with a bow as a sign of respect to each other.
We let the participants rest for a while. Before we ended the said activity, we asked random participants to give thier insights and what they have learned on their two days training. We are very happy that we have positibe feedbacks and comments.
We ended the training by giving of certificates to the participants and to the trainors also.
That would be all, thank you so much for dropping by ❤️.
