We had no idea that the hefty school backpacks were the least burdensome thing we had ever had to carry.
Every book and pencil felt like a mountain back then. But as we've gotten older, the true burdens of life have surfaced, including obligations, expectations, and the unseen weight of time.
Only knowledge and hopes were contained in those school bags, which are now a faint memory.
They could be put down at the end of the day, were concrete, and were straightforward.
These days, when we get home, our invisible burdens don't go away. Oh, to exchange, even for a minute, the cares of today for those of scholarship.
