Une roche est un matériau constitutif des parties solides de la Terre et des corps célestes. Les roches sont composées d’assemblages d’un ou plusieurs mineraux, cristallins ou vitreux. Elles sont souvent plus ou moins dures et cohérentes (pierres, cailloux), parfois plastiques (argiles) ou meubles (sables).Les roches se forment et sont détruites au cours des temps géologiques en un cycle que l’on appelle le cycle des roches.
