Change is always hard. And we’ve all I think to some degree, had to deal with, experience and survive through A LOT of change over the past few years. The reality I’ve realised is that no matter which way you look at it even if you haven’t contracted coronavirus yet it would of impacted your life whether it be directly from taking ill, or from following restrictions to not being able to see family members so whatever way you look at – most of us are recovering from something related to the pandemic.
The news is constantly filled with dread or fear, prices of goods increase whilst the proletariat grow hungry and despite all of this I still have such hope for what is to come. The universe contains rules (to many of our annoyance) and it does seem to be a fairly universal constant that for every negative there is a positive. There are complimentary forces within everyday existence within this reality that seem to, often eerily, seem to replicate a similar system within the body: homeostasis.
Within this same breath the methods and mechanisms of control that the powers that be use are beginning to break down. The Freudian based advertisement industry is weakening and regardless of your opinion on the pandemic you can at least agree it has gotten people talking. Some people unfortunately are still plugged in to the system and follow the x to the y to the z blindly, and sadly I am reminded of the uphill battle that we all have, the distance we have to cross and the minds we have to change to be able to build this better world that we were promised, and that they are attempting to destroy. I am reminded of a scene in the Matrix where Morpheus is running a training program to teach Neo a lesson on distractions. It’s a beautifully constructed scene that is full of intricate references that don’t bubble up on the first watch, from the association of the lady in the red dress to temptations behaviour, to how sexual imagery is used to distract us from paths in life – to the more literal explanation of some people are so comfortable in their beliefs that they aren’t willing to change them – “to be saved”.

But when you’re inside, you look around. What do you see? Business people, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system, and that makes them our enemy.
You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it."
And this is why despite the current state of affairs I am still hopeful for the world that is to come, if all come together in time. People are questioning the current state of society more than ever, and if the spectacle that is the current sitting government in my own country the UK plays out the way it currently is then things could get extremely interesting very quickly.
