An interesting read as always!
According to my current understanding , all those painful experiences are for us to understand that we with our mind and conscious or unconscious expectations create our “life movie”. No other lessons are there. We are a One being dreaming up many - and those many “others” are mirroring back to us the contents of our consciousness and imagination,
So the morale would be, no actions in the “physical world” are worth anything or any effort of the desired outcome is not first imagined, envisioned and integrated as already existing in the “inner world” of the consciousness, “seek the kingdom of heaven first” ... and it’s inside of our imagination where are “reality” is created first . And then it manifests in the “physical life”.
The hardest lesson to learn is to accept that anything that “anyone other” has done to you in this life was just you yourself abusing and mal treating and hurting yourself......, .. first in the deaths of our mind and then from here - manifested in the mirrors - the other people.
If you want to be treated differently by somebody - you first have to change the whole image on that person in your own mind - because that person, that mirror of your expectations, will not change if your expectations don’t change. Impossible. So, no action in physical world has any power to change your patterns before they are changed on your mind.

I recall a chat with a student who had complanied that her husband was drinking too much and too often. "He is useless, always drunk. I am not sure if it's worth trying to help him". After some discussions she realized that as long as she would keep holding in her mind an image of a 'uselsss and drunk spouse' his behavior will not change.
So, yes, indeed, the mind can be our worst warden. It also serves as a guard between us and the soul-self (I have written about it here: https://hive.blog/hive-181465/@nomad-magus/your-mind-the-final-frontier-r28p2r).
