Life of a Common man

A couple of days back the Indian budget came out and as always much to people's disappointment there was no change in the tax brackets for salaried class people. I remember when I was in India, every year during the budget would look forward to some relief in Tax slabs but then it would be something very minimal or nothing at all. And if there is some advantage that you notice, there would be hit in some other way.

Like couple of years back when the Modi government came in power they introduced the Swach Bharat Tax (Clean India Tax), I still wonder what it is, does it mean clean the pockets of Indian tax payers or clean the Country. As far as clean the country is concerned I have not seen much of change. These are just ways and means of extracting money from the pockets of common man and the most easiest ones are the salaried class, because they can directly deduct all the taxes from their salary without having to chase them.

The tolls on the roads are going higher and higher. In Mumbai city, there is one main road where 1000s of people travel everyday, the road is nothing special, but they have a toll booth there, it is a common road which people need to use on daily basis, so this is a direct one type of theft, that you need to pay a toll to move around in the city itself without any special benefit on that path. There are so many people who travel to and fro work across this road, you can imagine the amount of money they would earn here.

Like wise so many things where people have no control, but then this is also the people's problem. Each one of us think what can we do, we have no power to do anything. But we forget that we have all the power, if collectively we come and raise our voice, no one can enforce any law on us.

The farmers plight in India is getting bad by the day, the government has turned a complete deaf ear. In a way I am happy that the farmers are not turning their backs, but then I feel pained for them for what they are going through.

When I compare Oman to India not being emotional and just weighing the general life here, sometimes I feel it's much better to stay here in Oman. It is exceptionally one of those few Countries where to a large extent Government supports most of the projects without putting the burden on the common man. We do not have Tax, no Tolls on the road, No entry fees to parks, ample of free parking facility across the city, best of facilities across the city with nothing to pay for.

There are so many Indians here who do not want to return back to India again, because the life is much peaceful here in every way. Sometimes I get goosebumps when I think of going back to India and dealing with all of this corruption. I have been living a complete corruption free life here, it makes me wonder what my reaction will be to it when I have to start living between it again. But at the same time, my roots are in India so I do want to go back.

Sometimes I feel enraged, at times sad and at times helpless to be a part of these systems. I wonder where have these people lost their souls, why cannot they think to do things which are in benefit of people. I would have no problems in paying Tax if it is used in the right manner, but sadly it is not. Specially when there is a struggle still for the basic facilities and infrastructure it gets frustrating.

Will there be a time ever when a Government will think for the good of people and will use every penny for the people, or that common man will always be in a dilemma of what next? or We think it is high time we stop relying on Governments and learn to become self sustained, go offgrid and have lesser dependability on them. For me personally, it is the second option that I will go with, because the first one I do not see will happen any time.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

I have been living a complete corruption free life here

I don't think, it will happen in India any time !!

You bet. Feels like by every passing day it is getting more and more complicated

You bring up some good points here. I think taxes would be more widely accepted and effective if people were given some control over where their taxes went. Like if a person could decide to give 10% to this area and 30% to that area, I think not only would people be more amenable to the taxes, but performance would improve.

Yes, but then that means a lot of transparency which will come into picture and accountability, which will never be accepted by governments. Actually it is such a good idea. You get paid for what you will give to us.

In the US people are heavily taxed there @nainaztengra because even when they trade cryptos they are also taxed. Tax is good if it is not grafted by corrupt government officials and workers. But if a country have maybe natural resource like oil at least it will soften the blow from corruption.

Have a good day.

Yes, true and majorly if you see all countries have good amount of natural resources, and a lot can be leveraged from that. In U.S. after retirement a person gets good benefits from the government and does not really have to bother about the old age, but in India that's not the case. You work and pay them all the time while you are earning, after retirement you have no benefits of whatsoever and additionally you have to pay tax on any life saving income you get. Such is the state and it is a sad one

Namaste🙏 @nainaztengra, Yes we were expecting for tax benefit on salaried categories. But in other hand budget is good. Thanks

Ya, we all try to find the silver lining.
