HI Hivers!
So here is an update from my garden. More good news than bad news and thats the most any gardener can hope for. So I am happy!
Tomatoes, tomatoes , tomatoes! Green and red, I can make delicious food and preserves with both, I could never have too many!. I have three different strains this year, I await harvest to assess which prefers this garden the best ( hopefully all do. )
My sea of basil. I am going to separate out and replant small groups of plants to get the most growth from them.
Young purple broccoli doing well despite many white butterflies in the garden. I check their leaves daily for butterfly eggs. I have to remove them as the caterpillars will quickly decimate the crop quickly.
Below are my young gourd plants. Grown fast since I planted them out a few days ago. I hope they will climb the fence behind them
The next two photos show the difference in growth depending on planting conditions. I speak of zucchini (courgettes). The ones in the box spend half the day in the sun and half the day in the shade. They are starting to put out flowers , you can't see them here but at a slower rate.
These below are the same age, planted on the same day but bigger and stronger. They are in open ground and get sun all day! They are better developed, darker leaves, faster, stronger growth.
Jalpeno peppers ready to plant out.
Sweet bell pepper ready to plant out too. I have to do this after sunset when it is more mellow temp for the little plants .
The flashes of red from the beetroot stems always catch my eye.
I hope your garden is full of life , food and flowers!
