Hello!
Took a couple of photos of Kiemis before we turn out the heat pad in her vivarium for a few weeks to help her winter fast.
During the Yuletide celebrations, she got to eat a rat instead of the mice she commonly eats.
Kiemis is a beautiful and a friendly snake. I should take more photos of her after she's fasted.
See ya!

Beautiful and sleek it is actually.
Is it your pet?
Kiemis is my sons' pet actually, they got it from their aunt.

Does she lose a lot of weight when fasting?
I guess she does lose some weight, come to think of it we haven't actually weighed her at all.
Normally corn snakes eat every 2 weeks, but when in brumation they can go 2-3 months without eating at all.
I just read a study that surprisingly revealed that while they can lower their metabolism to conserve energy to the point that some snakes can go on without food even for 2 years, they do in fact grow in length when under long periods of starvation.
