We decided to do a day trip to the You Yangs which are a series of granite ridges that rise up to 319mt above the flat and low-lying surrounding countryside around 55 km southwest of Melbourne CBD.
After a lovely picnic lunch, we proceeded to hike to Flinders Peak which is the summit of these rock formations. It was a steep walk up but the views from the top and along the way were worth the effort.
Below are some photographs of the first part of our walk up towards the summit through some typical Australian bush settings.
