“Those who lose dreaming are lost” Austraian Aborigional proverb
The tropical savanna in the far north of Australia feels like it goes on forever. A harsh, flat, and seemingly endless environment that oscillates every year between drought like conditions and wet season monsoonal floods which make the roads impassable.
Arriving at Boodjamulla after many days drive from anywhere feels like your entering an oasis out of a fairy tale. Lawn Hill Creek which flows all year is fed by numerous freshwater springs from the limestone plateau to the west. We stayed here for five nights, it is one of the few waterholes in savanna where there are no salties (salt water crocodiles). An amazing experience to swim and kayak along the gorge to the upper waterfalls. The small freshwater crocodiles mostly leave you alone.
Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park is a reasonably difficult place to get depending on the quality of the roads at the time. It is located in the remote north-west highlands in the gulf country of Queensland and requires one to be self-sufficient with a reliable 4WD.

Beautiful images Robert! I can imagine there are so many serene spots like this that haven't been photographed through Australia, especially inland!
Yep its a big continent out there.
Beautiful images man. I'd love to visit someday - landscapes like this are totally foreign to me!
Lots of amazing stuff out in outback Australia but you need some serious time and an independent rig to get to most of it.
Awesome stuff Robert & great images - I only just recently learned this place existed. It's nice to know the crocodiles only mostly leave you alone 😂🐊
Thanks mate
