It always fascinates me to see the marco images from people on Hive, where I read with envy and often jealousy as my mobile phone is so crap that it can barely take a half decent photo. Last week, I finally bit the bullet and bought myself a new mobile phone. Although I didn't actually withdraw any funds from Hive for this, it helps to know I have earnings from my posts, so in a way, the phone is funded by Hive. Thanks everyone ❤️
It's been raining on and off today, perfect to try out the camera on my tomatoes. I think this isn't half bad for a first attempt as I can see the water droplets on the surface quite clearly. However, I know I was still shaking and there is a lot of room for improvement still.
Its amazing how much detail one can capture with a good mobile phone camera, but I sacrificed the water droplets for the hairs from the plant.
The flowers were trickier as they moved with the wind and I had nothing to lean against. Crouching down mid way to the ground and trying not to breathe for those three seconds is rather difficult especially when it's quite cold outside.
I couldn't wait to get back indoors and needed something else to practice on. My humble kettle was the next target. The vessel is made of glass and lights up in blue when the water boils. It's quite fascinating to watch and gives a totally new meaning to watching paint dry. It also boils very quick and I didn't have enough time to take more photos. Luckily I captured the main stages, from when I hit the on button and the water turns blue, to when the water boils. You can see the little bubbles in the first blue photo, then it gets larger and there are specks in the water. The rim of the water becomes wave like, and finally the blue intensifies when the water reaches boiling point. And have you ever noticed? When water boils there are specks in the water rather than bubbles. I never noticed that before.

Amazing how a new phone or camera can lure us to take photos as soon as we can.
I did the same with my camera and only a few weeks later downloaded the operators manual.
Great photos that you have here and I think that phone is going to make you very happy.
I'm the type who just jumps right in and never read any manual, even though I know it will teach me a lot. I hate reading things (probably not a good idea to say that on Hive 😄) so I probably will end up watching some YouTubes videos to get the most out of it.
How is it going with your camera now?
Secrets between you and me (not for Hive's eyes), that manual is too involved for me if that makes sense.
So I just used the basics and it's the same camera that takes all of the pictures in my posts.
I think you have seen some of my pictures, so I am not complaining.

Nice macro photos are really hard to take without a good camera or a good phone. I have a xiaomi redmi 8 note, not bad but not very good either. Just saw one or two days ago a post where starstrings01 wrote that he got a new iphone and that he was satisfied. The photos of his family were sharp and neat, probably it was worth of buying it.

Did you use a specific macro lens or your phone's native lens? I've tried out a moment macro before, liked it, but haven't picked up a new case since upgrading my phone.
I'm just using the native lenses as it's
just for fun. Personally I find it too much hassle (and I'm too lazy) to lug around too many bits and pieces as I seldom use them. I'll probably watch a few yt videos to see what else I can play with
Yeah makes sense - I have a moment macro lens that is pretty interesting but I don't use it very much any more since I changed cases.

Thanks. I think macro photography is fun to capture the fine details, but sometimes lack perspective and very difficult to master! So I'm hoping to play around with different types of photography

Absolutely! I took some night shots last night with both my old and new phones, the differences was shocking. I think it's like, now you've tasted truffle, there's no going back 😆

Its a Samsung A42, I never spend too much on mobile phones, and definitely not on an iPhone !!

How impressive, I am also fascinated by macro photography, I try it too but nothing compared to this, I loved the bubbles, I imagine that the focal length of your phone must be 1.8 or less.
Your spot on with the focal length! Actually I had no idea what I was doing, just zoomed on till I got a clear image

As to tomatoes, I think anything you grow yourself tastes especially nice, can't wait to harvest these!
My tomatoes were really tasty when I grew them before. I could eat them raw as they're delicious and fresh 🤩

Very nice shots! Enjoy your new toy :) I will have to buy a new phone soon too. The one I have now is 3 years old already and it´s getting annoyingly slow. The quality of the photos is also lower than it was when the phone was new. What brand is your new phone?
I got the Samsung A42 as I don't want to spend too much money on a phone. My nephew got 15% student discount which saved me quite a bit and it ended up costing me around £270. That's around the maximum I would pay for a phone 🙂
3 years is about time for a refresh, can't wait to see your work when you get your new one
Cool, thanks for the info. I will probably go for a Xiaomi again, was happy with the last one (my current phone) and even if I pick one of the latest models, it´s gonna be cheaper than a similar model by Apple or Samsung.
