In today's topic, we have a nugget to think about from Bro Eli's statement:
Why is it for all the things that are forgettable - why is it that the bad things that they have done to you are not very easy to forget?
This is a question anyone can ask and believers too seek to know the answer; however, the good thing is that the Holy Spirit has answered the question for us in the Bible. Bro Eli shared that why people find it difficult to forgive someone and forget what the person has done is because of "lack of love". If truly the love that Jesus taught us through the apostles dwells in us, we will not find it difficult to forget.
Irrespective of how someone hurt you, with the love instructed to Christians by Jesus Christ, Bro Eli says - it is so easy to forget. This is very true! Remember, there are things that are easy to be forgotten, so why is it difficult to forget ugly, evil or bad things. According to Bro Eli, there is a force behind it, a force that makes you remember it. It is a force that is against the spirit of God.
Following Bro Eli, we see the attitude God has towards sinners and sin - Hebrews 8:11.
KJV:And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
This is a hopeful and inspiring statement from God to us; here is a God with a perfect memory, who knows the past, present and future. Despite this, He intentionally erases the acts of our sins from His memory once we come to Him. This is indeed beyond human imagination!
That's what Paul calls it the depth of the riches of His love in Romans 11:33
KJV:O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
This is because we cannot understand the depth of this love. Wow! Someone with perfect memory forgets what we do. So why can't we do the same. Why are the bad things difficult for you to forget?
According to Bro Eli in his conclusion, if we tend to find it difficult to forget the offense of others, we have the chance of being a murderer.
Action plan:
Learn to embrace good and pleasant things, let the ugly and wicked acts of others not remain in your heart.
If God can forget our offenses, we should be able to forgive others and forget whatever offense the did to us
Certainly!
This is what every believer should inculcate
