Hello brethren,
I want to contribute to today's topic" what is the faith of the thief on the cross written in Luke 23:42-43? (Part 4 of 7).
According to the book of John 14;12, it said" Verily, verily , I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go into my Father.
To understand the truth in the the Bible, you have to consider What I call the "Time element"
Even though Apostle Paul has done so much work than our Lord Jesus Christ, but he didn't consider himself to be greater than Jesus.
Time element is the essence of what our Lord Jesus mean. For he stayed only 3 years preaching, while Paul has been preaching and was doing greater things .
Why is it so? It is because he stayed longer than Jesus.
Jesus has a limited time to do greater things on earth because he is going to father. But that doesn't mean that Paul is greater than him.
Also, the thief on the cross has a limited time,he cannot join the congregation in singing hymns or praises to the Lord.
Singing Praises to God is a good thing
According to Psalm 92:1, it is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto thy name, o most High:
But due to pain the thief was passing through on the cross, he couldn't sing to God, that why the faith of thief is enough to him to obtain paradise.
If the thief was given a day or months, he will do good works to accompany his faith inorder to obtain paradise.
For the book of II Timothy 3:17" That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
As a man of God, we have to do good works, which will not be regarded as a filthy rags in the sight of God because we are not doing the work on our own accord but of God.
Why?
For the book of Philippians 2:13 said that it is God that worketh in us to do his will and fulfil his good purpose.
That is to say that, we cannot do God's will if he is not with us. According to the book of John 15:5 " I am the vine ,ye are the branches: He that abideth on me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing".
So any one that say, the good works and the rightouseness we are doing in the help of God is a filthy rags in the sight of God, it is a wrong interpretation of the Bible.
Remember that our God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which you have showed towards his name.(Hebrew 6:10).
