Hello brethren,

I want to contribute to the topic"what is the faith of the thief on the cross written in Luke 23:42-43? (Part 3 of 7)

Luke 23:39 said " And one the malefactors which were hanged railed on him ,saying, if thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

Luke 23:40-41" But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

Luke 23:42" And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when though comest into thy kingdom.

At that moment , when one the thief was professing his faith on the cross, he is already believing our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is profession of faith , when he said to our Lord Jesus Christ,to remember him in paradise.

Then I ask, For us who are not crucified, will it be sufficient ?

If you have faith and no good work , let's say you are going to live for an hour or more after believing in our Lord Jesus Christ, God's Faith will be sufficient for you to be saved

But if you are to live for more weeks, months or years after believing in our Lord Jesus Christ, You have to do something more than Faith.

II Peter 1:5-7 said" And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

Let's see what the Bible said about having all this qualities listed above.
II Peter 1:8 For if these things be in you and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And for those that lacketh these things, Bible said in II Peter 1:9" that they are blind and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

So faith is not enough, it has to be accompanied with works of obedience to the Lord.

I Corinthians 13:13" And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. In the reversed standard version the greatest is love.

So faith without love is not accepted, that is to say that love should not be absent in Faith.

For the book of I Corinthians13:1-2 said" if I speak on the tongues of men and of angels, but have no love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal and if I have prophetic powers and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains , but have not love, I am nothing.

I Corinthians 13:3" If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gained nothing

Apostle Paul is trying to make us understand that love supersedes every other things including faith, hope and charity.

Thanks for reading.
