Today is the 5th day of May 2021.
I want to contribute to the topic" why do good people suffer while the bad prosper"
So often when we experience times of suffering we long to know why and seek biblical explanations.
According to the book of Ecclesiastes 9:2; it says " It makes no difference. The same fate comes to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the bad, to those who are religious and those who are not, to those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. A good person is no better off than a sinner; one who takes an oath is no better off than one who does not".
Why did Solomon say that, all things come alike to all?
God is always just and God's justice is served not only in this life. But there is another life to come
Let look at a story of John the Baptist, that died at a very young age in a cruel hand of Herod, despite he did not do anything wrong to anybody ,which makes it injustice to John the Baptist.
At another life to come, all people will be resurrected . Let's read the book of John 5:28""Do not be surprised at this; the time is coming when all the dead will hear his voice".
Then verse 29 "and come out of their graves: those who have done good will rise and live, and those who have done evil will rise and be condemned".
Then justice will be serve.
Let us not make it sound unjust in our mind when evil thing happen to Good people while good things happen to those that are evil.
These are the declaration of God in the Bible; evil people may win, evil people may prosper, but all these will not last longer.
Job 20:4-5 "Surely you know that from ancient times, when we humans were first placed on earth,no wicked people have been happy for long".
What happened to those who are despised and short lived due to people's cruelty?
The book of Luke made it clear in Luke 6:20 "Jesus looked at his disciples and said, "Happy are you poor; the Kingdom of God is yours!"
Luke 6:21"Happy are you who are hungry now; you will be filled! "Happy are you who weep now; you will laugh!"
Luke 6:22-23 "Happy are you when people hate you, reject you, insult you, and say that you are evil, all because of the Son of Man".Be glad when that happens and dance for joy, because a great reward is kept for you in heaven. For their ancestors did the very same things to the prophets.
Mathew 5:10-12 "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
