God is a spirit. The Bible says God is a spirit. When God said “Let us make man in our image”, He was not talking about physical life. We are not in God's image by the way we look. It is not our hands or our feet or our physical body that makes us resemble God. God is a spirit.
When we relating with God, we can only do that by the spirit. We are not like God in our physical appearance. We must relate with God spiritually. We can only worship him in the spirit. We can only hear Him in the spirit. We can only see Him in the spirit. God is a spirit.
The image of God which the Bible is talking about is righteousness. God is a righteous God. We must resemble Him in righteousness. We are to live our lives righteously. Righteousness is the image of God which we resemble.
God created us upright. We are the ones who sort out many things that corrupt our original nature. We should seek to be holy and righteous. It is through righteousness that we resemble God
We are spirit beings just like God is a Spirit and made us in His image and likeness.
The image of our God is righteousness that’s why no sinner can see him.
God created us in His image of righteousness but we became corrupted by our sins.
