In our world today, we see a lot of people pray. It is one thing to pray. It is also another thing to pray in the right manner. Prayer is not a casual exercise that we carry out anyhow we want. There's a way to pray if at all we are praying to God. The disciples of Jesus Christ understood this and that is why they asked Jesus to teach them how to pray.

Jesus wanted his disciples to understand that there are certain kind of prayers that God doesn't entertain. The scripture below highlights an example for us:

Matthew 6:7 - But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

If we truly understand the manner of His we serve and how He operates, we will know that there's no need to make repetitions that are vain when praying to Him. A prayer done with all genuineness of the heart will be heard by God.

Isaiah 65:24 - And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

If God can answer us before we even call on Him, then what then is the need to continue saying the same words to Him over and over again? God listens to our hearts before the words in our mouths come out.
