It is God's will for each and everyone one of us that we walk in love. In our everyday lives we should cultivate the habit of showing love to one another. In the book of Matthew 22:36–39, Jesus is seen talking expressly to his disciples concerning the matter of love.
Matthew 22:36 - Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 - Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 - This is the first and great commandment.
39 - And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
No one in his right mind doesn't love himself. We do things that ends up in our best interest. We all wish the best for ourselves. The manner we treat ourselves is the same manner God expects us to treat others. Love is a very extraordinary force. Probably the most powerful force in the history of time.
That is why when asked of Jesus by his disciples which commandment was the greatest, Jesus' reply had to do with love. He told us the manner we should love. First, we ought to love Him, with all our hearts, and the next is our neighbors. If we love God and love not our neighbors, we are not pleasing God. Our neighbors may not necessarily be those who live next door to us.
Our neighbors in this context can be likened to our fellow brethrens. All those that are in the household of faith. As long as we are gathered together in the name of the Lord as a church and one body, with God being our father, we are considered as family. Members of the family love one another. That's how a family is supposed to live; in love.
Jesus tells us in Phillipians 1:27 how important it is for us to walk in oneness. Walking in oneness is impossible if the people involved lack love for one another. A group of people with one mind can achieve great things. Whatever they ask of God, according to His will will surely be brought to pass.
Yes is our duty as Christians to practice love
