The text of Romans 7:15 indicates the desperate situation of the person who can will the right things but is powerless to do them, that is, it indicates our desperate situation when left to ourselves.
Suffice it to say that we cannot do good by ourselves, we can't live right without help, our heart cannot direct our steps, our heart cannot change us, because even our heart is full of evil.
The Book Of Proverbs 16:9 says;
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.
It’s only the Lord that can correct us, that can wash our sins, and one thing we have to realize is that a religion wherein the Holy Spirit does not operate, cannot renew people. They cannot right the wrongs of people, because we need the Holy Spirit of God to correct us so that sin does not take us captive.
A religion which is not guided by the Holy Spirit can never correct its people, it will always be teeming with evil. In every religion where sin is abundant among its members, they become hypocrites. They may be using the name of the Lord Jesus but their organization is teeming of evil that comes from every direction because there is no God that directs their step.
We need to be in the proper place and the proper place is the true religion in the Bible, the true church where the Holy Spirit dominates the acts, the thinkings and the works of the members of that particular true religion. Acts 20:28-
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
1 Corinthians 3:16;
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1 Corinthians 1:2;
Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs' and ours'.
It is the Holy Spirit that directs the path of the Church, of a person, of a member of the Church. By ourselves we cannot do it.
