As Christians, we believe that God is the creator of the universe, and his words as found in the Bible is our final authority in everything. But, when it comes to things about the future, do we know what the future holds for our lives?
In this Bible lesson video, Brother Eli Soriano explains with biblical references the position of the Bible about the future especially for Christians.
There are three important points to highlight in this video lesson based on Brother Eli's teaching.
Firstly, We know that the Bible is not only a doctrinal book but also a book of prophecy.
Prophetic pronouncements are made to foretell future events so that when they come to pass we might believe.
In the book of John 16:4 (KJV), the Lord Jesus spoke to the disciples "But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them." This was a prophetic pronouncement about the future that the disciples might believe when it comes to pass. This, therefore, means that Christians can know about future events before they happen.
The Bible is a prophetic book that enables believers to know about what is going to happen in the future. As a phonetic book, the Bible grants us knowledge about future events, so that we don't just live our lives based on whatever comes our way daily.
Secondly, the future of a Christan is not just about what will be will be.
It's a future that has been shaped by God and revealed in the Bible to us. So, a Christian is knowledgeable about what the future holds for him or her.
The Book of Proverbs 16:9 asserted the above as can be read here.
"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps."
The above scripture simply means as Christians, we have the power to plan our way, what we want to be, and how will want to live, but it's the Lord that directs us in the ways that will make us become what have planned.
As Christians, we have assurance about the future and know what we happen. The Bible revealed to us what our future will be according to God's plans. Since it's the Lord that directs our way, his plans for our future are what we look out for.
The book of Jeremiah 29:11 has this to say, ** "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."**
That means the future of Christians is already assured to be what they planned to be. So, a Christian is certain of his future.
Thirdly, a Christian knows what will be the end of his life on Earth.
We all know that we are going to die some days as stated in the book of Ecclesiastes 9:5.
"For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten."
We also know that after death comes judgment. The Christians know what they will face once they die. The book of Hebrews 9:27 states "It is appointed unto men once to die but after this the judgment."
So, we know what will happen to our future once we die. However, some will not face it. These are those who will be lucky enough to see the comi6og the Lord Jesus Christ. Such people shall be taken away in a rapture.
In conclusion, the Bible says in Ephesians 2:10, **"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." **
God has ordained everything that we have to do on Earth. We must be certain about our future and that we are doing God's good work while we're still living on Earth.
Listen to the Brother Eli in the video.
How are you brother @fexonice, thank you for sharing Brother Eli's enlightening teaching. It is indeed reassuring to know that as Christians, we're not walking blindly into the future but guided by God's word in the Bible. God's teachings help us understand that our future isn't uncertain but shaped and directed by God's plans.
