Hello brethren,
Today's Bible study was awesome so I am sharing with you all what I learnt from the study today
Brother Eli thought us about faith. But before that, he made some clarification on some misinterpretation of the scripture by some theologians. One of them is the issue of The church was built on the rock. They say that the rock is Peter. But the scripture made it Clear that, the rock on which the church was built was Jesus and not Peter. Because Jesus is the chief corner Stone the the builders rejected. So the foundation of the church is Jesus who is the rock. The Apostles and prophets were founded on the Jesus the rock.
On faith, I learnt that, faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. The things not seen have proof that makes us believe it.
So what the Bible says about faith is the proof of what is not seen.
The things that cannot be seen have proof or evidence.
The Bible talked about resurrection, judgement and eternity. And we have proof in the scripture which makes us believe it. Example, Jesus died and the third day he resurrected and went to heaven.
This proofs that what the Bible says about resurrection , judgement and eternity are true. Even though we have not seen it but we believe because of the proof we have in the scripture.
An example is that oxygen and hydrogen cannot be seen but when they are combined they produce water. So the water that we see came from what is not seen.
Another is that, oxygen cannot be seen but they make living things alive. The fact that the living things survive because of oxygen it's enough proof that faith is the evidence of things not seen.
God cannot be seen but his creation that can be seen. Even if you do not see God, you see what he has done which is the proof that there is God.
That is the meaning of faith.
Faith comes from that which cannot be seen.
