In the book of Luke 23:39"And one of the male factors which were hanged railed on him saying,If thou be Christ,save thyself and us.
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God seeing thou art in the same condemnation?and we indeed justly;for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss,And he said unto Jesus, Lord remember me when thou cometh into the kingdom.

And that time he is already believing the Lord Jesus Christ,that is a professional faith.
If you are going to believe before you die,your faith will be sufficient for you.
In the book of 2 Peter 1:5"and beside this, giving all diligence,add to your faith virtue;and to virtue knowledge;and to knowledge temperance;and to temperance patience;and to patience godliness and to godliness brotherly kindness;and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you,and abound,they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ but he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off,and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

You have to have something more than faith alone.
You have to back up your faith with obedience to God.
1corinthians 13:13"And now abideth faith,hope, charity,these three;but the greatest of these is LOVE.
Love must not be absent in faith.
