Psalm 34:17-18 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
That means God sees our struggles, understands our pain, and wants to bring us comfort. No matter how deep the sadness or how overwhelming the anxiety feels, we can take comfort in knowing that God cares and is near.
One of the best ways to fight these battles is through prayer. Sometimes, we overthink prayer, but really, it’s just an honest conversation with God.
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Talking to God about our worries and fears helps lighten the load. He may not always remove the struggles instantly, but He promises to give us peace that goes beyond what we can understand.
Another thing that helps is shifting our focus to gratitude. When we’re feeling low, it’s easy to focus on everything that’s wrong, but even in hard times, there are things to be thankful for.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
It doesn’t mean ignoring our struggles, but rather choosing to recognize the good in our lives. Maybe it’s the support of a friend, a small victory, or even just the fact that God is with us. Focusing on gratitude doesn’t make problems disappear, but it helps shift our perspective and remind us that hope is still there.
It’s also important to surround ourselves with the right people. Depression and anxiety often make us want to isolate ourselves, but we’re not meant to go through life alone.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 “Two are better than one... If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”
Sometimes, just talking to a trusted friend, joining a Bible study, or opening up to someone who understands can make all the difference. And if it feels like too much to handle alone, there’s no shame in seeking help from a Christian counselor. God often works through people to bring healing.
