Obeying God can feel tough sometimes, especially when we don't fully understand His plans. We might want to do things our way, but the Bible teaches us that obeying God is one of the most important things we can do. It’s not about following rules just for the sake of it it’s about trusting that God knows what’s best for us. When we choose to obey, we’re saying, “God, I trust You with my life.”
1 Samuel 15:22, it says, "To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams."
This means that God cares more about us being faithful and obedient than doing religious rituals or offering sacrifices. He wants us to trust Him and follow His guidance, even when it's hard. It’s a reminder that obedience is not about the "big" things we might do for God, but about the little daily choices to follow Him.
Obeying God isn’t always easy, but it leads to good things. Take Abraham, for example God asked him to sacrifice his son, Isaac, and he trusted God enough to obey, even though it must’ve been painful. Noah also obeyed God by building an ark, even though he had never seen rain. They didn’t know exactly what would happen, but they trusted God. And because of their obedience, they saw God’s promises fulfilled in powerful ways.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
These words remind us that it’s okay not to have all the answers. We don’t need to figure everything out on our own. Obeying God means trusting that He has the bigger picture in mind. Even when life gets confusing or we don’t know what comes next, God will guide us if we let Him.
Jesus showed us what true obedience looks like. He chose to follow God’s plan, even though it led to suffering on the cross. He prayed,
Luke 22:42 "Not my will, but Yours be done."
Jesus trusted God completely, and because of His obedience, we are all offered forgiveness and eternal life. As His followers, we’re called to trust and obey, knowing that even when it’s hard, God has a purpose for us, and He’ll lead us through it.
