If Paul has one thing very clear, we can see it in this text: the most important thing for him wasn't success, fame, or even a super-comfortable life. What Paul most desired was to truly know Christ. But he didn't want to know Him merely by hearsay; he wanted to live Him, even if it meant suffering or losing things in this life.
Do you know why Paul thought this? Because he understood the true value of Jesus Christ's sacrifice and resurrection. This sacrifice wasn't something that happened at a moment in history and ended there. That sacrifice has allowed us to achieve much more than we ask for or understand. That sacrifice is what allows for transformation in our lives: healing when we are broken, victory when we face a struggle, and finding meaning when there is none.
Sharing in the suffering of Jesus Christ does not mean masochism; it means an act of surrender and love for the One who has saved us once and for all. Let us not seek only the miracles of Jesus Christ, let us seek to be like Him in every way. God does not want us to have a simple religion; He desires us to have a living and deep relationship with Jesus Christ, a relationship that transforms us from within.
10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable to His death, 11 if perhaps I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Si Pablo tiene algo muy claro, lo podemos ver en este texto que la cosa más importante para él no era el éxito, ni la fama ni mucho menos tener una vida Super cómoda, lo que Pablo más deseaba era conocer a Cristo verdaderamente. Pero no deseaba conocerlo solamente de oído, sino vivir, el aún si esto significaba sufrir o perder cosas en esta vida.
¿Sabe por qué Pablo pensaba esto? Porque él entendía el verdadero valor del sacrificio de Jesucristo y su resurrección, este sacrificio no es algo que sucedió en un momento de la historia y quedó allí, ese sacrificio ha permitido que nosotros alcancemos mucho más de lo que pedimos o entendemos, ese sacrificio lo que permite la transformación en nuestras vidas, sanar cuando estamos rotos, tener la victoria cuando nos enfrentamos a una lucha, encontrar el sentido cuando no lo hay.
Participar en el sufrimiento de Jesucristo no significa masoquismo, esto significa un acto de entrega y amor por aquel que nos ha salvado una vez y para siempre, no busquemos solamente los milagros de Jesucristo, busquemos ser semejantes a él en todo, dios no quiere que tengamos una simple religión, desea que tengamos una relación viva y profunda con Jesucristo, una relación que nos transforme desde adentro.
10 a fin de conocerle, y el poder de su resurrección, y la participación de sus padecimientos, llegando a ser semejante a él en su muerte, 11 si en alguna manera llegase a la resurrección de entre los muertos.
