2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
We have so many modern translations these days that they have distorted the truth in God's Word. They have misled many and of course, added to it what is not in the original manuscript of the Bible.
Matthew 16:16-17 (NIV)
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
Jesus asked the disciples who everyone says He is and then asked the disciples who they think He is. Peter was bold enough to declare and say that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Jesus knew God must have given Peter this revelation to know who He truly is.
Matthew 11:27 (NIV)
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
It is obvious that it was God who revealed this truth to Peter. Most people have distorted view and think Jesus didn't exist before the world. The Bible made it clear that Jesus had been in existence even before the world. Most people hold on to a distorted translation that isn't from the manuscript of the Bible.
Jesus existed before now just as God has chosen us even before we were born. Before Jesus came into His physical body here on earth, He had always existed and the Bible made us understand this truth.
Colossians 1:16 (NIV)
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
If Jesus never existed before now, why would the Bible record that all things have been created 'through' Him? He was a conduit through which everything was made. If Jesus never existed before now, how can God make things through Him? Bro. Eli cited an example of a Western Union money transfer. If you promised to send money through Western Union it is because it existed. If it never existed, how is it possible to send money through it?
John 1:2 (NIV)
He was with God in the beginning.
John 17:5 (NIV)
And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
These Biblical references showed that Jesus existed even before the world began and the confusion that people have is not based on the truth but on assumption and different translations of the Bible where the truth has been distorted. This was the truth that Peter knew that made Jesus say only God must have revealed that to him.
Genesis 1:26 (NIV)
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
God obviously wasn't talking to Himself when He said 'Let us'. Jesus had been present right from the beginning, even before the world was created.
