Hello brethren
Bro Eli stressed that believing in our ancestors sometimes betray the truth.
God never at any point recommended our ancestors to us to believe in.
Our ancestors may be into Idol worship and of we follow them, they'll lead us into Idol worship and we fail God.
According to the book of Malachi, from the days of our father, we have gone away from God. This means that our forefathers led us away from God. They Made us to follow a path that's leads away from God.
The good news however, is that, God has recommended our lord Jesus Christ as whom we should listen to, according to Matthew 17:5.
From that scripture, God spoke from the cloud, saying, this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased, hear ye him.
So God the father, and creator of everything commended Jesus Christ to us as the only teacher we can trust and listen to. Jesus is the teacher sent by God that we ought to listen to, not our ancestors.
This pronouncement from the Lord came when the apostle Peter was trying to persuade the Lord Jesus Christ to make 3 tabernacles one for Jesus, one for Moses and one for Elijah. So there were witnesses present when God the father admonished us to listen to Christ Jesus. Let us not hear anybody else anymore, not even Moses anymore, not Elijah anymore because it is not the time of Elijah and Moses. Our dispensation is the time of the Lord Jesus Christ, a God sent teacher in whom we must believe.
According to Hebrews 1:1-2, God used to speak to our fathers by his prophets, but now, he is speaking to us through bis son Jesus Christ.
Adam, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob all heard from the Lord God, in the time pass. So the messengers of God heard from God in those days. However, the Bible informs us in verse 2 that he spoke to us in these last days through his son, Jesus Christ. Therefore, we must heed what the God is saying, We must listen to the Lord Jesus Christ. He must be believed by us, we're not to believe our forefathers. Our forefathers might have led us down the wrong road, leading us away from God rather than leading us to the truth.
It is he that came from above thanks will teach us what is above. Our lord Jesus Christ came from God, he taught the laws of God. We should follow him in order to be saved.
