Hello brethren
Instead of believing our ancestors, we should believe in Christ because he is the teacher who came down from heaven, believing in our ancestors sometimes betrays the truth. This doesn't mean that ancestors are all telling lies, but sometimes instead of guiding us to the truth, our ancestors may guide us to the path going to a place far from God.
In Matthew 15:9-10, the Bible makes it clear that many worship God in vain because the practice the commandments of men as a doctrine.
In Mark 7:7-8 also confirm that, many worship good in vain because they don't follow the doctrines of God, but the commandments of men. They hold unto the traditions of men and neglect that of God.
Traditions oen are received from ancestors, from forefathers and many regard the teachings of their ancestors and the commandments of their ancestors better than the commandment of God. They lay aside the commandment of God just to hold to the traditions of men. This was the case with Israelites who happened to be the first nation to serve the true God. This led to many Israelites being scattered as sheep without shepherd, because they left the commandments of the true God of heaven.
They left the righteous path that God prepared before them. According to Malachi 3:7, many have left the ordinances of God from the days of their forefathers. God even pleaded that they should return, but they said, wherein shall we return?
So we can see that following ancestors can influence a people to going away from God. If the fathers or the ancestors have not kept the law of God, that influence may be handed to the next generation. That's why God is sighing a sigh of frustration unto the Israelites, calling them to return from following the path of their ancestors to following God. So we must always keep watch in order to retain the truth. We must know the right person to believe or the right person to listen to.
God has ordained his son for us to believe in. He said, this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased, hear ye him. So we have to heed to the recommendation of the father, if we must follow the true God. There are times when ancestors are misleading their siblings, their descendants. Many are into Idol worship because of their forefathers. That's why there are people now, members of the occult organization, that are misled into believing that their god is a God, which is against the will of God in the Bible.
So, instead of believing our ancestors, we should believe in Christ because he is the teacher which came down from heaven.
