Thanks be to God for another awesome edition of our mass Indoctrination service,am glad I joined today's study. The emphasis was on baptism and the church. I will share the lessons learnt below.
According to Bro Eli,we have to ensure that people are being taught the doctrine of Christ just as stated in Matthew 28:20 and we proceeded to discuss what he considered as the first doctrine of Christ which is Baptism. He also made us understand that the doctrine of Christ are all stated in the scripture. Any doctrine not found in the scripture should be discarded,this can be seen in 1 Corinthians 14:37. The Bible is the bedrock of anything considered to be doctrine.
In the course of the study we were also able to answer the question... "should believers join a church". Yes believers should join a church,joining the church is the will of God for all who claim to be believers. You can't say you believe in Jesus without believing in His word,He spoke about the Church. Receiving Christ is receiving His word.
We have to be part of God's family. Although we all are referred to as gentiles but the gospel of Christ has brought us salvation and has made us heir of salvation so we are God's and we belong to the family.
The Church is one of the doctrine of Christ. Ephesians 5:23 clearly stated that Christ is the head of the church. Some are of the opinion that the church era is gone. This is really a misconception and a big error. The era of the church is not gone as they claim.
In the book of Act 20:28 we can see a charge there to the ministers to take heed of the flock that Christ purchased with His blood. Ephesians 5:25 also talked about how Christ loved the church. This is to tell us that the church is an integral part of the kingdom and should be regarded as that.
I also learnt in the course of the study that the word "Church of God" should not be replaced with all manner of names that we now have today such as "fellowship" "Lutheran Church" "Assembly" etc. The Bible referred to it as the church of God and not all the above mentioned names. We have to take heed so we don't fall into error.
Another truth that was established is the translation error of the statement "Church of Christ" it is not church of Christ,it is the Church of God,that is what is stated in the original Greek manuscript. Every word spoken of Christ was the very word He heard from God. So when he said I will build my Church,it was God speaking through Him saying He will build His Church,we can confirm this in the book of John 12:49-50 and Deuteronomy 18:18.
Lastly I learnt that everything that is of God is name after Him such as "Man of God" "Angel of God" "Son of God" etc. And this is further confirmed in the book of Daniel 9:19. The lesson was an eye opener for me and I will ensure I join in tomorrow for the next mass indoctrination. A very big thank to the entire MCGI team.
