Bro Eli's teaching major on husband and wife. How they should relate in accordance to God's ordinances. Here is the summary of the lessons learnt from Bro Eli's teaching;
I Corinthians 7:4-5 KJV
4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
Husband and wife should abstain from sex when they want to fast. And they should not only fast but should join praying with fasting.
How should they fast.
Matthew 6:18 KJV
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
They should not broadcast it when they are fasting. It should be within the couple intimacy. Do not only fast, while fasting give food to those that are hungry and those in need. It is part of good ordinances of Christ so that our prayer would be answered by God.
As a wife, your body should not be display for others to behold.
Hebrews 13:4 KJV
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Matthew 5:28 KJV
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
It is prohibited for women to open their body for others to see because it may leads others to sin. Your body is meant only for your husband and not for others.
Ephesians 5:23-24 KJV
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
God does not allow a woman to be the head of her husband but should submit to her husband. And the husband is to provide for us home.
I Timothy 5:8 KJV
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel
This is part of the obligation of the husband.
Whenever we want to pray we should follow the order of God.
I Corinthians 11:4-5 KJV
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
A woman has to cover her head but a man should not have a covering on his head. The meaning of the covering on the woman's head is a sign of submission to Christ and to her husband. And the covering of the woman's head is her long hair.
I Corinthians 11:7 KJV
Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him
It is prohibited for a man to keep his hair. It is a chance for a man to have long hair.
