Regaining the love of parents (Part 1 of 2) | The Old Path | MCGI
Scriptures: Matthew 7:9-11, Matthew 5:45, Luke 6:35, 1 Peter 3:1
No matter the behaviour of a child, it can never justify a parent for having hatred for the child. It is normal for the parents to hate the bad behaviours of a child. But the hatred should not be on the child. It is unnatural for a parent not to love his child. A parent's love for the child is a natural instinct put in them by God.
It goes down to animals as well. We all see the love and affection an animal shows for her offspring. They can go any length to ensure that their offspring is protected and well taken care of. Some of them do not even mind if they end up being killed at the process for the safety of their offspring. Even domestic animals with no defense mechanism would hardly abandon their offspring in times of danger because of the love for them.
Matthew 7:9-11
9 - Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 - Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 - If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
It's hard to classify people who do not love their children, because the scripture above tells us that even people with their evil nature know how to be good to their children. The father of the prodigal son had every reason to hate his child for what he did and to reject him when he returned. Instead, the father welcomed h with both arm.
The love the father had for his son did not seize despite his mistake. The father put behind what happened in the past and accepted the son back. This should be the attitude of parents towards their children. A love for a parent should be unconditional
